About
I love playing 18 holes of golf in 2 1/2 to 3 hours! After 4 hrs, ready golf has failed... either in my group or the group ahead. I have been playing for 50+ years, ain't going "pro," so I don't need three or four practice swings, don't need to "plumb-bob" a 5' putt, hate hand-held yardage finders (slow-play users seem to love 'em). As long as I am not in the line of play, I prefer to be at my ball, I have paced my yardage enroute to my ball, felt the wind strength and direction, and have club(s) in hand!
My "glory days" hdcp was "5" but after 3 left knee surgeries and 3 cervical fusions... I am just happy to be above the blades!

Coyote Creek Golf Course
Played On 12/08/2021Great value
Course has begun "winter" preparations. Overall playability is still very good.
Coyote Creek Golf Course
Played On 04/02/2021Enjoyable Course
Course conditions I rated average... only because winter dormancy hasn't fully recovered. Won't belong before conditions will be very good. I intend to play here frequently and enjoy the layout as it has a variety of holes, from easy, to moderate, to challenging.
Coyote Creek Golf Course
Played On 02/22/2021Seasonal Value Top Notch
Considering this is the "off" season time in Colorado, Coyote Creek is an exceptional value. Dormant fairways but greens are still capable of holding good shots. Can't wait for spring to arrive and play this again and again in perfect conditions.
Staff is friendly, professional, and customer service is kept at the highest levels.
Coyote Creek Golf Course
Played On 02/03/2021Winter golf
Coyote Creek is an open course with moderate sized greens. Very subtle breaks and winter conditions can be a bit tough on the putting, but the grass is green. Fairways are thin and roll out beyond the norm. Sand traps are under COVID restrictions, as are the pins and holes.
Fun course with a variety of shots needed.
Twin Lakes Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2016Challenging for under 6,000 yds White Tees
Tight, narrow fairways and small greens make the relatively short total yardage quite challenging. Dollar value is excellent for play. Snacks in the pro-shop, but if you want to eat afterwards, meals available from on-site Lodge.
Castle Creek Country Club
Played On 12/28/2013Fair Price for a Fair Trest
Castle Creek is in a beautiful setting and is a fair test of any golfer's skills. The fairways were okay, typical bermuda winter-fade. The greens varied greatly in conditions. I spoke to thePro SHop personnel after the round and they explained that the greens on the course had been infested by several different types of fungus. It was only recently that they discovered that different treatments were required. So some were great, some were spotty, and some were just really tough to find a good route to the hole!
All in all, a fair price for a fair test!
The Loma Club
Played On 7/18/2013Short Game Sharpener!
A wide variety of short game challenges, distance, elevation, accuracy... Sail Ho is a great short game sharpener! Greens are excellent and will hold good shots. A great value for your golfing $ if you don't mind walking... and are not expecting an Executive or Championship length course. Sail Ho is a Par 3 course and is extremely enjoyable.
National City Golf Course
Played On 6/20/2013Great $12 "9"-Hole Course
Unless you feel like you need to use your driver to be on a real golf course, I think you would enjoy the variety of holes this executive layout has to offer. Oh, the 2nd hole is a par 5, so you can use that driver once for sure! Greens are the best feature of this course, smallish in size, but that's what small courses do to challenge your short game. At $12 per round, National City GC is a excellent value. It is walkable, but they have elec.carts available. SnackBar was clean and Golf Shop adequately equipped.
San Vicente Golf Resort
Played On 4/10/2013Great potential upon recovery from spring maintenance!
San Vicente Golf Course will make a great "stay & play" venue once the springtime course maintenance is completely recovered. Layout presents picturesque and challenging holes on both nines. Water hazards are fairly frequent, and on your first visit, well they can be discouraging... buy the yardage book!
Ladies tees provided my wife with the necessary yardage to be competitive, sometimes to a real advantage.
We both enjoyed the overall experience and felt it was worth the drive into the scenic hills of Ramona/San Vicente resort.
Cottonwood Golf Club - Lakes Course
Played On 4/4/2013Fair price for Fair Course
The "upside" to Cottonwood Golf Course is the staff; friendly, courteous, professional, and able to meet the customers needs/questions.
Playing from the white tees, I found the course moderately challenging. Fairways were difficult due to uneven grass. Bunkers varied drastically from some with sand and some as gravel pits. Greens are just a couple weeks away from being aerated, so i would expect improvement in overall conditions once completed.
Pace of play was abysmal !
Considering the excellent price of fees from Golf Now, I felt Cottonwood was a "fair course for a fair price!"
