Good greens but beware, they allow 5some's

Course is generally a challenging design. They are currently making a lot of upgrades to the course (tree removal, grading land, etc.) In a few years if that takes, it'll be nice. Greens were in very nice shape. Fairways, rough and tees were not so good. Have played before, staff is usually pretty nice.

Played today, a Friday afternoon and soon realized that the course apparently allows 5somes during the week, not sure about the weekend. Might want to call before you plan and confirm if they are that day. Today we had 2 5somes holding up a 4some, 3some and 2 2somes and never offered too allow anyone to play through. And not a ranger in site to try and police some golf etiquette. Would have been nice to have been able to play through. Probably would have cut at least 45 minutes off our round.

Nice greens and staff

We played this course on a day when there was some mixup with GolfNow and tee times got majorly double booked. When we arrived, 25 minutes before our tee time, there were no carts. The parking lot was full and we had to wait an hour and half for a cart to become free. Then, because so many people had shown up, pace of play was very slow. We stopped after 12 holes due to pace of play. I doubt it's always like that.

Overall the greens were nice, surprisingly nice for the condition of the rest of the course. Rolled true and quick. Didn't seem like a lot of players were fixing ball marks, which was a shame.

No bunkers on the course and little water. 6500 from the back tees and 6000 from the white.

Management was super nice. But the course is a "country" course. Fairways are essentially just mowed grass and not bermuda or anything from what I could see. Winterkill probably affected them as well last winter. Tee boxes weren't the greatest but were playable.

Biggest challenge was navigating the course. Signage is very poor, so we found ourselves on the wrong hole or fairway at times. Unless you pay close attention to the small map on the score card, it's hard to go from hole to hole.

For the money, I think you could probably find better course conditions elsewhere.

Solid course, but has seen better condition

Earlier this year, this course was in very good shape. Right now, it's not in as good a shape as it could be. Many of the greens on the front side have crabgrass growing inside them and the bunkers could really use some routine maintenance. We got a great deal for a last minute round so value-wise it was fine, but i would have hated to pay rack rate for the conditions we found.

One of the better value courses in the area

Love to play Pudding Ridge. Especially in the afternoon weekdays as it's never over crowded. Can be crowded on the weekend but they do a good job managing it.

Course-wise, they are suffering as most course in the NC are, with the effects of WinterKill. Some fairways have areas which are not going to come in this year but most holes are in good shape. They're doing what they can and it's showing.

Good greens, not overly fast now due to the heat of the summer but they are in good shape. Tee boxes are in great shape.

The course is challenging enough for most golfers but offers birdie opportunities if you hit some good shots. It doesn't overly penalize you for the occasional wayward shot either.

Golf Course Review of Yadkin Country Club

Course conditions were not great, but for the money, one doesn't expect resort course conditions. Given its the dead of winter here in the Carolina's, you expect most of the fairways and tee boxes to be dormant, and they were. There are bare spots in the fairway and on the tees that if fixed, would improve the rating of the conditions.

The layout was really great if you look beneath the conditions. Challenging holes, forced fades and draws off the tee if you want to score. The holes do no sit parallel to each other, which is great. to score on this course you need to plan some shots. There are a few "just bomb it off the tee" holes but there are also one where you have to think before you hit.

The greens were slow but they rolled true. No too many problem areas on the greens. They had raked the bunkers earlier in the day or yesterday so clearly they try to keep up the course.

Clubhouse was nothing to write home about but the staff were friendly.

Overall I give this course an average rating, which I'd rate higher if a few things were better on the condition side, but value-wise, for what we paid on a weekend with a cart, it was great.

ALways a fun and challenging course

Got a Hot Deal! special and so for that price, this was a great deal. This course is always fun to play and offers challenging holes. With 5 sets of tees, every golfer can test their skills.

Course was in good condition. The greens rolled well and had a reasonable pace, but not as fast as this course usually is.

But fairways, greens and tee boxes where in good shape.

Great course. Worth stopping by to play

Hard to believe having lived here all my life that I never played this course until now. Found a great deal on Golfnow so booked a 4some. Had a great time. Course staff were friendly, the layout is fun and challenging and there's some great history to this course.

Will definitely start to add this to my regular rotation of nearby courses I play.
