ColoVista Golf Club
Played On 03/14/2015Needs a lot of work.
Played at ColoVista with a group of friends as it was his birthday for one of them and he chose this course. The drive up to the pro shop is absolutely great as it feels like you are driving up to a prestigious country club or golf resort. Get to #1 and we were waiting for quite sometime as we caught the back end of a tournament that was going on that morning so our pace of play was off the entire round. As for the course itself, the fairways are not terrible as I have played worse but the greens and the tee boxes were something to be less desirable. The greens were extremely fast which is ok if the greens are actually green but these greens were just brown and dead. As for the tee boxes, to me it was like a wild mess with the grass and weeds growing on them. The course has lots of potential and the signature par 3 on the back 9 with the view of the horizon and the Colorado River is breath taking but the course conditions need to improve and be maintained.
Harvey Penick Golf Campus
Played On 05/30/2014Greens need work.
Played for the first time at Harvey Penick and was not impressed. The greens where being aerated but it seemed that they were being aerated by using rebar. Made 3 foot putts that are makeable on most courses extremely difficult and sinking putts is what matters when the course is basically a par 3 course for the exception of the three par 4 holes. Also there were some water jugs on the course that were not refilled and it was a extremely hot and humid day. Overall the course needs a lot of work but it has potential to be a good short game course.
ShadowGlen Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2014Absolutly wonderful but challenging course.
First time playing at Shadowglen as I have been wanting to play there for quite some time. The course is absolutely beautiful. Perfectly green fairways, challenging bunkers and and greens and excellent staff. Course conditions were a little soggy but that is in no part the courses fault as today was the first day of sunshine after rain 3 days ago and cloudy conditions since. Greens ran fast. I highly recommend this course and I cannot wait to play another round there again.
Butler Park Pitch & Putt Golf Course
Played On 02/20/2014Great for short game work.
Very small 9 hole par 3 course to work on your short game. All you really need for clubs is a pitching wedge for some of the longer tee shots, a 54-56 degree wedge and your putter. Not the best up-kept course but when you are in the middle of downtown Austin and just want to work on your short game, its good enough.
Thank you for taking time to write a review of the course. We are very excited for spring to finally be here and the weather that accompanies that. The course is by no means dead. However, with the cold temperatures our warm season Bermuda grass goes dormant. Now that spring has finally arrived, the grass is coming back into season and greening up daily. We have put a round of fertilizer out in conjunction with the warmer weather and in just a few days the greens have completely changed color. We would love to host you again in the coming weeks to showcase the course when spring has fully arrived and the course conditions have followed suit with the weather. Thanks again and we hope you get plenty of chances to get out and swing the clubs this spring!
