Good value for the money given it is still high season

Still high season here so the price paid was good. In a month or so after the snowbirds are gone I would expect the rates to go down considerably. Currently age 70. 18 handicap. I’ve played Eagle Dunes many times over the last 12 or so years, and has always been a little tough for “short-knocking” seniors even from the blue (senior) tees. It’s a mixed bag of fairly easy holes and really challenging holes. The course was in fair-good shape. Tee boxes in fair to good condition. Greens in good condition. Fairways in just fair condition with really short grass, and very few “fluffy” lies. Desk guy in pro shop was friendly as was the starter. No cart girl service, but they do have a snack shop in the pro shop that was well stocked. Carts were newer and in good condition. We bypassed a foursome with a young kid playing on #3, and a foursome ahead of them was kind enough to let us play through, so pace of play was very good. They do have outhouses midway through both the front and back 9’s, and you pass the clubhouse at the turn between 9’s if you need to use the facilities or get a drink and/or snack. Like a lot of other courses in the area that cater mostly to older duffers and will never see tournament play they could fill in some bunkers and grass them over, and make the finishing hole a little easier.

Nice course. Need new carts!

Played the course for the first time. Course was in good shape overall. It does have some challenging and interesting holes, but also has quite a few holes with very generous landing areas off the tee. The greens were in decent shape, but had a lot of debris on them, and the guy blowing them stayed behind us instead of going through us and cleaning them ahead of us.

The biggest negative was their carts. The first cart we had started losing power around the 7th hole. We limped in on it at the turn, told the cart guy about the problem, and he told us which other cart to swap it for. That cart started balking by the time we got to the #10 green. On the approach to #14 we called the pro shop and the girl who answered said that they would send another one out to us. We drove up to the #14 green, putted out, and waited. No one showed. So we decided to go on to #15, thinking they would catch up to us and give us a fully juiced cart. No one came...ever. We were able to keep going, but sometimes had to push the cart on uphill runs. Somehow we managed to finish the round, and the cart totally died when we got it back to the cart return line.

They need to either get new carts, or make sure the carts are fully charged before they’re sent out. Also, if they tell you they’re going to bring a fresh cart out to you, they need to do it, and whoever is in charge at the pro shop should make sure it gets done.

The cart issue put a big damper on an otherwise pleasant round of golf. We will probably go back sometime (it was a 70 mile drive for me), but Incant recommend the course until they resolve their cart issues.

We apologize about the cart issues. We are in a change of ownership, and as soon as the new owner was aware of the cart situation, he placed an order for a new fleet of EZGO carts. We are expecting the carts to arrive sometime this week.

Still a fun course to play

The course was in overall very good condition, and has recovered well from Hurricane Irma. The greens were good and average speed. Crews were out working, but were courteous and unobtrusive, and kept the course looking and playing good. It has some challenging holes, water in play on several holes, and some well placed bunkers protecting many of the greens. We have played this course many times, and it is still a fun circuit. Even though there were several 3 and 4 somes out, the pace of play was good. The ranger came around a couple of times to check on us and make sure everything was ok. It’s a little out of the way, but worth the ride. I recommend it, and will definitely play it again.

Very disappointed

I booked this as a prepaid Hot Deal. I drove 75 miles down from Leesburg, and my playing buddy drove an equal distance up from Bradenton to play it. When I got to the course, I checked in at the pro shop desk. The young lady there was very pleasant, but made no mention of the course conditions to me. I found out (by overhearing) from another golfer who was checking in and complaining to the young lady at the desk that there were 5 temporary greens, a fact which was not previously disclosed by the course on the Golf Now listing, and would have made us look for another course to play. The desk person was apologetic, but offered no relief to either of us. The practice green was heavily sanded and unusable. In addition to the 5 temporary greens, most of the rest of the greens were in very poor condition (also not disclosed by the course in the Golf Now listing). Many of the tee boxes were in poor condition. On the plus side, in spite of the recent rains, the fairways were in playable condition, the roughs were fairly well mowed and playable, and most of the bunkers were well maintained and had fluffy sand. However, based on my experience, I can't recommend Quail Hollow, and I doubt that I will return there to play.

Very nice course in great condition on 10/12/16

This is my 2nd time playing the LJ North Course. Got a good hot deal rate on Golf Now. The course is in really good condition overall, especially given the rain we had less than 2 weeks ago from Hurricane Matthew. A few greenside bunkers were still wet and packed, but most were dry. Greens are fairly fast and in very good shape. Most fairways are wide. The course has some challenging holes, but is fair,. Cart girl came around 2 or 3 times. Good selection of snacks and drinks. Restrooms on both 9's. Nice clubhouse and pro shop. Cart was in good condition, clean, and plenty of "juice" for 18 holes. Didn't need it, but carts do have rain hoods to cover your clubs if needed. I'm a "distance challenged" senior, and I try to keep the total distance down to around 6000 yards, so I played the green tees on the front 9 and white tees on back 9. Worked out well. Would play this course again, and I recommend it. Would like to play the South Course sometime, but there seems to be fewer good tee times available, and higher greens fees for that circuit.
