The Golf Club at North Hampton
Played On 05/08/2014One of the best
Every hole is a challenge. Elelvation changes and rolling fairways stand out among area courses that are relatively flat. From the blue tees back you better bring your control game, or a lot of balls. Great layout, fast greens, lush fairways, one of the best and toughest around
Eagle Landing Golf Club

1st class all the way, bring your "A" game, challenging layout, but fair. You get what you hit. This is a $45 to $85 value course that was on Golf Now for $21, incredible deal!!!
Bent Creek Golf Course
Played On 5/27/2013Top JAX course
This is a shot makers course. Tight tee shots with water and trees bordering fairways on most holes. Long drives are not required to score well here if you can keep the ball in the fairway. The greens have been aerated recently so they were a little bumpy, but should be back to great condition soon. Complete practice facilities.
Memorial day was crowded but ranger was present on the course doing what he could to speed up play. Refreshment cart came around several times too.
When the greens are normal, this course offers some of the best conditions in the JAX area. Great deal in the $25 range
Folkston Golf Club
Played On 5/19/2013Well worth the drive
This is by far the best dicount couse I have played. Although it is relatively short, it requires shot placement to score well. Best conditions on a non premium priced course I have found. Practice area is top notch with a well marked driving range, pitching green and bunkers. Greens are in great shape with one exception, and are slow compared to most of the burned out greens on comparably priced courses.
This course has deals for less than $20 that are tough to beat. Location, and not conditions, are the reason for the deep discounts here. It may be a little out of the way for some, but it is well worth the drive.
Jacksonville Beach Golf Club
Played On 5/19/2013Greens under repair, Beware!
Jax Beach is a nice facility with a decent layout. Plenty of room to spray tee shots without losing balls. Fairways were in decent shape, above average for Jax public courses but the greens were damaged as bad as I have seen. SO bad it could have been vandalism. They are under repair and should be back to normal in a few weeks. Normally this course is a greta deal at $25, but right now it would take a $15 deal to go back as it is a driving range with fancy targets.
GPS worked for most shots but was not the delux model so distances to fairway hazards were not always available. Driving range was above average with turf similar to the fairways.
Wait for repairs to take hold and this course is a great deal at $25..
Trident Lakes Golf Club
Played On 5/12/2013Good value at $25
Great layout with room to spray the ball off the tee on most holes. All but a couple of the greens were in very good shape. Fairway grass in decent shape, but rough was not very thick allowing for short cuts on doglegs without suffering bad lies. Driving range in average shape.
This was once a premium course that is fighting to maintain conditions on a budget. Very good deal at $25 or less and would be a solid $30+ course with some improvements on the fairways.
The Amelia River Club
Played On 7/14/2012Awesome Facility
Fantastic layout. Good mix of wide open and tight tee shots. Very good conditions, not quite pro level, but very close. Excellant practice facilities and very helpful staff. Great food too! This is a premium priced course and is a good deal at full blown retail and a great deal in the $30 to $40 range. Memorable holes like the 17th par 3 to an island green similar to Sawgrass help this course stand out.
