About
I've played over 50 yrs. & still enjoy the outdoors w/friends & colleagues. Each day offers different challenges, opportunities, & conditions to satisfy or aggravate you.
I consider myself a v.good player who plays w/mediocre guys but who are friends & like the game. Its never that I don't enjoy myself or their company.
I've been fortunate to have played many of the best courses around NJ, NY, PA,, L.I. & the history associated w/them.
Will travel for great golf.

Harbor Pines Golf Club
Played On 08/14/20231st timer at HP
I was pleasantly surprised at Harbor Pines.
The Staff was most welcoming and friendly, from the cart guys to the Pro Shop Staff, the bartender, and the Starter.
I was introduced to my 3 playing partners and we got along great like I had known them for years.
All 3 of them had played here before and gave me great info about the course.
The condition of the course was overall tremendous.
A few tees on the back 9 were aerated but playable.
Greens rolled true and were quite quick.
The course was still very busy when we finished our round about 4:40. It was a slow 4 hours, but not that unusual for such a busy place.
I will try to get back here for another try at the variety of short, long, tough, and fair holes of Harbor Pines.
I look forward to my next visit
Royal/Sabal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/29/2023Back again and a bit disappointed.
First greeted by young Starter who told me to put my clubs on cart 38.
He didn't even get off his stool to make a few bucks.
I proceeded to Pro Shop to sign on etc. He was pleasant and friendly..Went out to give Starter my ticket, but he was busy on his phone.
My playing partner showed and Starter sent us to Riyal 9, then Sabal 9.
Course had some issues on greens, crabgrass was prevalent and a bit long.
Played front 9 quickly but git to 10 and waited every shot on back 9.
Clubhouse and areas outside need a good cleaning and repairs. It should be better with ALL the play they get
Atlantis Country Club
Played On 03/24/2023Back for a 2nd round
Been here 4yrs.ago and I wasn't disappointed.
Decent price, v.good Staff, conditions were dry, but fair(no rain in awhile), greens, tees, and fairways were fast and furm.
Overall a great day and 3 great guys I was paired with made it most enjoyable
Palm Beach National Golf Course
Played On 03/20/2023Back to a Fun course
I didn't remember Palm Beach National until I pulled into the parking lot. I did remember many of the holes & conditions though. Staff was efficient, courteous, & pleasant. The greens were very good and fairways were good. A friend from Jupiter met me and we played as a 2some only.
Group in front were 2 couples who putted out everything and lined up way too many putts.
We enjoyed ourselves and plan on playing there again.
A fun course
Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course
Played On 01/18/2023Lake/Rail in January
I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the Lake & Rail 9's. Of course it was moist, but overall in Very good shape. The Greens rolled true & were pretty quick. Even though it was Cart Path Only, some players were OFF the path on numerous occasions. A shame that in January golfers knowing we just stole a day out, couldn't honor the requests of the Facility. for CPO. It was a great day to be outside instead of being hunkered down indoors..
A great day to be playing & the cost was fair & reasonable for January 2023
Harkers Hollow Golf Club
Played On 12/05/20221st round of Dec 2022
We had a long frost delay today, but the Staff did a great job of getting everyone out ASAP.
The course was wet, but the conditions for play was better than expected. Greens, fairways, & rough were in better shape than when I played there in early May. Great effort by the Grounds Staff. Cart Paths,Tees & Bunkers need work, but they will come along in due time.
Thanks to Joe Manley & New Owners for bringing this course back slowly but surely
Grand Canyon University Golf Course
Played On 09/29/2022Grand Canyon Antelope Course
1st time here with a very good experience..The Staff was most pleasant and helpful.
Conditions on the course were very good and the greens were EXCELLENT, true roll and smooth surfaces.
Overall I would plan on playing here again when I return to Scottsdale.
Reasonably priced as well
Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
Played On 09/19/2022Same old Flanders
The greens were firm and fast. Fairways were high because of the heat and dry conditions. Better that than NO grass at all.
Rough was long also, but ok.
Bunkers and Tee boxes need lots of work.
NO water available to drink other than 1/2 way house.
Haven't played here in over a year, just about what I expectedly
Harkers Hollow Golf Club
Played On 05/23/2022I'll be back !!!!
We played Harkers last year around the same time. Conditions are improving slowly but surely.
Greens and fairways are much better.
Traps now have real sand and are ok.
Tees and cart paths need some work, but we'll worth playing.
The Staff was excellent, although the Rangers are way too prominent.
Almost forcing you to play faster, they are all around.
Price was great and we will be back !!!
Oaks at Palm-Aire Country Club
Played On 03/24/2022Nice experience
I played this course for the 1st time.
Overall nice layout, good greens, nice variety of holes, good condition.
Nice mix of long and short holes, straight, right, and left shaping.
Greens had many ball marks, but due to lots of play.
Ok for 1st time. Played Cypress course on Tuesday
Cypress at Palm-Aire Country Club
Played On 03/22/2022Return to Cypress
The course was in decent shape. Greens were rolling nicely and were in good shape. Some areas were being top dressed and plugs on greens were being treated.
Nice layout, fair, water in play but not an overabundance of hazards to cross.
Worth playing, but 8 minute tee times can make it back up quickly, play early if possible
Pines at Woodmont Country Club
Played On 03/18/2022Hidden gem
1st time playing Woodmont CC & wasn't disappointed once I found it.
The course & area is undergoing some construction and the entrance is not easily visible.
Once there the Staff was very hospitable & friendly.
There is NO Practice Range, but there is a chipping & putting area close to the 1st tee.
The course had lots of variety, mounding, bunkers, water, & very good fairways and greens. Played with a Mom & son from Canada who knew the course which helped me tremendously.
I will go back next year for sure
Royal/Sabal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/16/2022Reliable and consistent
Played the Grand/Royal 9's.
1st hole was dead into the sun so that hole took a while to play. Other than that we played in 3hr 45 min.
The course was in very good shape, greens were EXCELLENT & smooth.
Bunkers were raked but not all had rakes in them.
A very reliable course with consistent conditions make this a regular stop when I travel to Weston.
Great place to play
Harkers Hollow Golf Club
Played On 08/02/2021Long long time ago
It's been at lesdt 10 years since I played at Harkers. Ladt time the conditions were dreadful. I was pleasantly surprised at the turnaround since the new iwners took over.
The greens were excellent and the fairways are coming around nicely.
Tees are a little thin in spots and the bunkets are the weakest part of the course.
The management is making great strides to restore Harkers Hollow to its former glory.
Great job guys. The Staff is very courteous
Green Knoll Golf Course
Played On 10/26/2020Old & Experienced
My First round of gplf was summer of 1965at Green Knoll. Now 55 years later this course os old & experienced.
That is a great quality.
The course is better now than ever before. Fairways, greens, rough, and tees are in great shape.
Personally I think #8 & #15 are the 2 best holes out there. Greens rolled great, true, and excellent shape
Reasonably priced, get out and play here
Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
Played On 08/03/2020Aug 3rd @ Flanders
Typical busy day for Flanders Blue-White. Cart paths only dye to Sunday AM rain.
Pace was dreadfully slow due to CPO and 3 young kids playing Blue Tees who could easily have played from the Reds. After watching too many of their poor shots drift right or left I caught up to a Senior I knew who was playing in their group. I mentioned how painful it must have been for him to be paired with them and he agreed.
No Rangers in sight to move them along
Course was in decent shape for all of the rain
Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
Played On 07/13/2020Wet Monday in July
Played Gold/Red course today. With over
3 &1/2 inches of rain since Friday, the course was playable but cart paths only.
That wasn't a problem.
The greens were hairy long cause they weren't cut, but were sprayed in the early AM.
Some small puddles but overall great for such a wet period in the past 3 days.
Much pruning along the cart paths is sorely needed which forces you to get off of the paths and onto the surrounding turf.
All in all a find round of golf
The Club at Emerald Hills
Played On 03/12/2020Long, long time ago!!!
My 1st time here was Jan. 1971. Been a loonngg time between rounds, but well worth it.
Had an early 7:45 time and got out just before the sun came up. Fairways, tees, greens,& bunkers were in great shape.
Got a Hot Deal and price was EXCELLENT.
Played with a guy from Boston who struggled a bit , but we played in 3 hrs.
Glad that I returned some 50 yrs later.
I will add this to my list when I return next year to Boca or Weston, Florida
Royal/Sabal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/10/2020Return visit in 2020
I was very impressed with the course today.
I think that it improved since 2019 when I was here a year ago.
Course conditions were better and the greens seemed in better shape.
Tee boxes and fairways were also better.
Price was reasonable and I played with 3 Canadians who were fun to hookup with.
Will be back in 2021 for sure.
Staff was very accommodating for a single
Black Oak Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2019Late Fall Invite
I've played here on numerous occasions, but not this late in November. The course was in EXCELLENT shape and the few leaves that were around didn't slow play at all. Believe it or not, NO Lost Balls due to leaves, just poor shots!!!
Greens rolled great and numerous upgrades were being implemented (new tees, shaping of banks, sodding, etc.)
There was a slight breeze and temperatures were around 50, pleasant and didn't feel cool at all for being so wide open.
Fairways, roughs, tees, greens, and bunkers were ALL in tremendous shape.
A great day for my 4some, 3 who hadn't played there previously!!!
