Dogwood Trace Golf Course
Played On 10/22/2017Stalking Coarse Ranger
This was my home course throughout high school. I left the area in 1988 to enlist in the Air Force. I play the course 8-10 times a year as I visit my parents. My last round here was my worst ever. I got on the first tee at 3:30pm with a cart. I figured I'd make decent time and finish 18 holes before sunset. On the first tee the ranger lets me know that the cart has to be turned in by 6pm. I'm thinking that's a lil odd as we still have daylight til 7pm. Oh well, I'll play what I can til 6pm. Well turns out the ranger just won't let me enjoy my round. The ranger stopped at our tee box on four occasions to remind us to have the cart back by 6pm. He was an elderly gentleman (I wish I had gotten his name). We managed to play 11 holes but on hole #12 he demanded that the cart be returned to the clubhouse (5:40pm). We planned to play the hole and return the cart. But he was not having it he literally sat there until we headed to the clubhouse. I never uttered a derogatory word to him. But you can rest assured that I won't be back!
Perfect track to sharpen your short game!
This course is a well kept secret in the area. When I left the area in 1988 to enlist in the USAF this place was nothing but dense forest. This course is perfect for walking just over 4,000 yds from the tips. Challenging par 5's but I must admit my driver had the flu! A 3 wood would serve you well on the longest holes here. Please give this course a try - you won't be disappointed. Played in the latter part of January still in pretty good shape. I'd love to see course conditions about mid spring / early summer.
