Course is getting better

I played here earlier in the year. In May it looked like it needed work. While it is better, there is work that still needs to be done. Most greens look good. The lumps in the greeens are now gone. They were rolling well, and fast. There are still bare and damaged areas on some greens. The layout has many dog legs. The bunkers are the real downfall of the course. There is almost no sand. What is there, sits on dirt. There is not sufficient sand to get a club under it. My advice is to try and pick it or use dig and push.
I am glad to see that there is improvement in this once very good course. The fees they are asking is significantly higher than other comparable courses in the area.

If you get invited, go, but not worth the $55-60.

Course in dire need of help and cleanup.

With it being only two days to Memorial Day weekend, one would have thought the course would be in better shape. While I understand that the management team they had last season has pulled out, there is no excuse for the condition and general state of affairs at FVCC. It is sad to see what has become of a once good course.
While some if the staff are wonderful, there is much work that needs to be done.
There are felled trees piled in various places around the course. The greens are uneven due to the ubiquitous small tufts of grass that do not seem to be getting cut by the mowers. It makes it impossible to read the greens, ad any of the tufts can and do move the ball off line.
The bunkers, always a problem, are even worse than normal. Today, there were tire tracks in at least one bunker. The pitiful attempt to fluff up the bunkers is a waste of time and energy. The sand is fluffy for 1/2 of an inch, then gets very hard. As a result, there is no way to play a real bunker shot.
As this is the only remaining course near Danville, they have a monopoly and the state of the course shows that they know there is no other option.
