Indigo Lakes Golf Club
Played On 03/08/2018Course should close
I've played Indigo since the mid 80's when it was home to the LPGA. The owner(s) have let it deteriorate to now being maybe the worst in the Volusia/Flagler area of Florida. The greens have more weed than Bermuda. The fairways are much worse than other courses in this area. Tee boxes are nothing but brown packed dirt. The sand traps have decent sand, although not manicured. The bright is the very nice pro Cheryl. Not worth $20.00 much less $37.00
New Smyrna Golf Club
Played On 11/26/2017A Donald Ross Gem
I have played this course several times over the past six years. Condition has varied from fair to pretty good. Our group hadn't played it in the past year and had heard that the city had resurfaced the greens and seriously upgraded the rest of the course. The greens were fast and smooth, the fairways were excellent for this time of year and the traps were damp but nicely dressed. I've heard that Donald Ross would design courses when he vacationed in Florida and I for one am sure glad he spent time in New Smyrna Beach. What a pleasure to play, but you need to play it more than once to understand the "Ross" nuances.
The Club at Venetian Bay
Played On 11/19/2017A waste of time and money
Our group (12 on this occasion) was told a $30.00 rate over the phone when we booked for Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017. When we arrived, the individual in the pro shop told us it would be $42.50. Since we had mostly driven 25 miles, we decided to just pay it and complain later. Had the course been in excellent condition, it would have justified the price. The fairways were over seeded and about two inches in length. All the tee markers were on the very back of the tees to protect the overseeding. You never had a level lie on the tees. The greens were fair and the traps had not been dressed for play that day. Pace of play was good and the layout was very good. After the round, the manager was available and we voiced our displeasure at the price versus the conditions. We were told tough s__t and we didn't have to come back. We won't.
Indigo Lakes Golf Club
Played On 03/02/2017Disappointing
Having played this course several times since new ownership, I was disappointed in the condition. They hide behind the damage caused by hurricane Matthew, but downed trees do not cause the condition of the greens and fairways (bordering on terrible). I get constant emails to come back and play, but unless things drastically improve, there are a lot of better courses in the area to spend my money on. Sad. Its a great layout and former home of the LPGA.
