Corica Park - South Course
Played On 02/24/2022One of the best public course in the Bay Area
Great challenging layout, fairly flat course but lots of bunkers and hazards well placed to account for lack of elevation changes. Fast and large greens with lots of undulation, so work on reading the green or you'll be 3 putting all day. Always very good course condition. I live in San Francisco, but almost never play in the city. TPC Harding park and Presidio are only public worth playing in SF but just way too expensive, even SF Resident rate is $80+ walking! It's worth the gas+toll+time to play in the East Bay instead.
Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Lake/Canyon
Played On 08/31/2021One of the best in Bay Area, arguably #1 in South Bay.
Very challenging and fun track! Hilly long hazards between Tee to Fairway on lots of holes on Canyon - Lake Courses, messes with your head so if you can't confidently drive 150-200 yds on target you're losing lots of balls or dropping 3's. So not for beginners, you'll need a "Driver's" license. Fast hilly greens too so 3-putts are common if you can't read it correctly.

I'm from San Francisco, just a beginner but have been hitting all different sub $40 18 hole courses in the region past few months.
And I must say, for a Public Muni Course in Hayward CA of all places.. This place exceeded all my expectations. From the Tees/Fairways all the way to the Green, every hole is in at leas 7-9 out of 10 condition. It's not a difficult course, completely flat and easily walkable. Course length, Tree placement and a few water hazards are a bit challenging . Lots of Canadian geese and their natural fertilizers, but this is common along all the courses around the bay.
Corica Park - South Course
Played On 11/05/2019Beautiful course, relatively flat but big difficult greens.
Beautifully recently remodeled “Australian-style” Course. Relatively flat layout adjacent to Oakland airport and the bay. But the rolling hilly roughs and bunkers is a bit challenging as there aren’t many trees or other natural hazards.
Those giant greens are tough, no problems getting on in 2–3 on most holes even on the par 5’s, but the 3 putts once on will get you in the end and make you pull out your hair.
Nice new pro shop, restaurant, courtyard, new blue carts with gps range and map app.. but didn’t redo the bathrooms or the men’s locker rooms? I assume same for women’s side. Why not finish the whole job?
Thanks for the 4 stars! Let us know how we can earn the 5th on your next visit. Hope to see you again soon. Have a great day.
