Lexington Oaks Golf Club
Played On 11/03/2023Nice Course in Good Condition
First time playing here. Overall, a solid course. Layout is a little goofy on the back nine but very scorable from any set of tee’s. Greens and fairways seem to be in good shape. A little slow with what seemed like a lot of “regulars” playing matches and staff allowing them to do whatever they want (including changes to the tee sheet - I had a 10:30a tee time booked through GolfNow and was told 2 other foursomes also had the 10:30 slot by the starter). Will be back and play it again soon.
Pleasant Valley Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2020Terrible tees and greens
Staff was friendly. Every tee box was dirt...no grass as all. Fairways and bunkers were fine given the recent heat wave. The greens were some of the worst I’ve ever played on. There were more weeds than grass and so many unrepaired ball marks that putting was like playing Plinko. I will try it again sometime but overall not a great experience and not worth the $45 hot deal. I liken it to a cheap $15 municipal and wouldn’t pay more than $20 to play it.
Glade Valley Golf Club
Played On 09/06/2018Great value overall but course was in bad shape
Can’t beat the price for the hot deal but the fairways and tee boxes hadn’t been cut in weeks. A standard tee barely put the ball above the grass line. Greens were in good shape considering the rest of the course.
Clustered Spires Golf Course
Played On 06/08/2017Best municipal course in Md
Clustered spires has it all!! A mix of scenic and city views. Challenging but rewarding layout that certainly penalizes missed fairways and greens. Greens are in great shape with the recent rain although they always seem to be in great shape. Overall a great value for the buck and with the awesome guys in the pro shop I always recommend people here.
Maple Run Golf Course
Played On 10/29/2014Smoothest greens in Md
I play a lot of the Md courses and while they might not be the fastest, they are the smoothest greens around. Fun layout that allows you to unload on the driver and tests your wedge game into the greens. A must try value as a hot deal.
Black Rock Golf Course
Played On 05/14/2014Cool course. Greens still aerated.
Great hidden gem in Hagerstown, Md. just a short drive north of Frederick. Lots of fun holes that are very tough if you're not in the fairways. If you manage to find fairways, you can definitely go low here with 3 short par 5's and a few short par 4's. I will be back for sure!!
Whiskey Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/21/2014Good course but slow pace
Every time I'm here it's a guaranteed 5+ hour round. Course is in decent shape. Greens still recovering from airation. Only play this course when I get a good deal on Golfnow, otherwise this course is way overpriced.
Richland Golf Club
Played On 11/05/2013Great course
Hollow creek is a hidden gem in Middletown. While not glass, the greens roll nicely as they double roll them each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The fairways are in immaculate shape and the rough is no easy task. There are many stategically placed bunkers, especially on the par 3's - seems like there's one in front of each green. All in all, a great course for the money.
Glade Valley Golf Club
Played On 08/07/2013Hidden gem in Frederick
Great course slightly off the beaten path. Well maintained fairways and greens. A little slower than I prefer but still in good shape overall.
1757 Golf Club
Played On 7/30/2013Looks nice but WAY overpriced
Course looks immaculate from the road. Practice facility is great. Staff is friendly. However, the course is in TERRIBLE shape. Not one green was puttable. Between thousands of un-fixed ball marks, and holes from a bad airation job that never closed, I am very unsatisfied with 1757. They charge way too much to have a course that poorly kept. Very disappointed. I will not be recommending this dogtrack to anyone.
Links at Gettysburg
Played On 7/3/2013Beautiful fairways and lightening greens!!
Always in great shape no matter what time of the year. Fairways were immaculate and the greens were pristine. Staff is extremely friendly and pace is always at or under 4 hrs. Picturesque views on every hole with water on almost every hole on the back. I would highly recommend this course if you're in the area. I live in northern Montgomery county and its only a 45 min drive, just past the Penn border up route 15N.
Locust Hills Golf Course
Played On 5/27/2013Fast greens and tight fairways
Don't spray into the rough or you'll be in for a tough day. Keep it in the fairway and away from the trees. Back 9 is much more challenging than the front. Lots of water in play. Lots of undulation. Fun course. I'd play it again
Poolesville Golf Course
Played On 5/16/2013Great condition
Great municipal course. Well maintained. Greens hold and run smooth. Fairways are in great shape. Don't go in the rough or you're in for some chopping.
Beaver Creek Country Club
Played On 3/30/2013Lightening fast greens
Only a short drive from DC metro area, Beaver Creek is a former private country club in the outskirts of Hagerstown that now allows guest tee times. The course was in decent shape. Fairways were ok for the most part. Some areas were burnt out or in need of repair, but to be expected March. Best part of the course, the greens. Lightening fast but soft enough to hold on. Overall, the course needs some spring maintenance, but I would definitely play here again.
Executive at Needwood Golf Course
Played On 12/12/2012Great for a county course
Nice Montgomery County course. In great shape for December. Greens were a little sandy and they were repairing/replacing many sandtraps. Definitely a "feel good round" kind of course. Not super challenging with short par 5's across the board. I would recommend for a fun inexpensive course.
Maryland National Golf Club
Played On 10/14/2012Course is in great shape for Oct!!
Fairways were groomed perfectly. Greens were firm and fast. Great course. Great value.
