Good fun but the high dough is easy to lose a ball

Played the Diablo course and It was dry--many fairway shots were from hard-pan or semi-bare lies. Part of this is due to the drought but in January the Superintendent would get good watering bag for his buck with a little irrigation time. (I know--some of the grass is kikuyu and is brown dormant after the recent frosts--but still shouldn't have bare lies in the fairway)

The greens were really nice and that counts for even more than fairways! Nice staff--nice players--nice bar and clubhouse. Definitely a do again even though it is an hour drive for me.

Played with a group of 3 who were excellent golfers and nice people. The course is challenging but fun with a wide variety of holes and shot values. Bentgrass greens are excellent quality and the course is in fine condition.

Pro shop staff could have been a little more welcoming but I guess I am not a member--on the other hand it put me off a little since I think they are trying to attract members. Greenskeepers were respectful and friendly.

I have played here before and the clubhouse has a nice barroom and the server is nice.

Overall I like SG&CC and will play there again. You can walk or ride--it is good old fashioned golf without a lot of misery that some new designs boast about. Good place--good golf.

I have played this course for years and it has gone downhill since Janet Davis Garcia left for more professional fairways. The greens used to be great but there is a lot of fungus damage now.

Usually the pace of play here is good but on the Golf Now round I played on a nice Saturday the place was way overbooked. It took the first hour to finish 3 holes--and not because our group was slow. No marshalls and apparently the management takes the weekend off.

This is a great old course but the management is skating and not providing members or guests a quality experience any longer. Hey Pajaro Valley---GET IT TOGETHER!!!! Don't let this gem fall any further into disrepair!
