Southern Gayles Golf Course
Played On 01/02/2023behind a foursome walking
Behind a foursome walking the entire round. Why would the course let a foursome walk on a holiday? Would not let us play through. By the last hole, had 5 groups backed up waiting on them. Nothing against walkers, but when your course is full, you should not have a foursome walking. There was 4 or five holes between them and the next group.
Cross Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/28/2020course great shape
Saw previous reviews about greens being bad, they are not now. All greens were a little fast, but in great shape. No bad spots at all except one section of green on hole 15, which did not affect where the hole was. It is nice having par three's around 145 to 165. Don't like courses that every par 3 has to be over 190 yards.
Towhee Club
Played On 05/13/2020great layout need some TLC
great layout and somewhat challenging. course needs a little TLC but greens are in good shape. one of the most hardest 1st holes you will play. Need to play this course a second time to know what side of fairway you need to be on. worth about 30 dollars, wouldn't pay much more than that. Friendly staff.
Stoney Mountain Golf Club
Played On 10/21/2017good practice course, not crowded
lots of different holes. a few are long but most par 4's are short. NO fairway grass, but it is covered with grass. If you want to work on extra putts or chips, this is the course. Can play a quick and relaxing 18. From the Red tees, good for beginners or women golfers. All the par 3's are harder than they look because of slope of the green or a tree near the green(from the blue tees).
Saddle Creek Golf Club
Played On 01/14/2017course well maintained and great practice facility
Great course. Great layout. Only problem we had this time was there was a group of 4 on the back nine holding 5 groups up. If you have a foursome as your group, you should almost always let a twosome play through.
Big Spring Lake Golf
Played On 08/19/2016Friendly staff and course well maintained.
This is a nice course. Tee boxes were in great shape. Some courses have overgrown tee boxes or dirt in spots, not this course. Best tee boxes I have played this year. Greens were a little slow, but very smooth to put off of. Greens can be challenging depending on the pin placement. My 2 playing partners and I will be playing this course again.
Eagle's Nest Golf Course at Lake Guntersville State Park
Played On 12/19/2015need to play more than once, course knowledge helps, a lot of drives over hills.
I would bet that this course was really scenic before the tornado hit it. On the back nine on the par 5 green, can see where the tornado went. Still, a nice course and only about 1 hour drive from Huntsville. Par 3's long and look innocent, really tough to hit par on. Some greens really big and go up a club on uphill approach shots. Only thing I would change, if they would give you an indication on the pin placements that day.
Goose Pond Colony Resort - Plantation Course
Played On 11/21/2015greens were in awesome condition!
Driver has to be long, but not accurate. Your short game has to be good to score good. Greens were the best I have ever played on in mid-November. I will be going back again.
Sunset Landing Golf Course
Played On 11/08/2015wide open, can't loose a ball unless you hit it over the fence towards the runway
usually good greens, I don't know what happened. Greens were horrible. Paid $15.00 each of us. I wouldn't pay over that. Their greens fee is outrageous on the weekends. Don't go unless you have a Golf Now coupon. Driving Range balls are bad. Club house needs to be updated about 20 years ago.
Colonial Golf Course
Played On 10/31/2015Traditional old course
Couple of holes difficult to get par on. Relatively open, but if in the tree line, difficult to get par.
