Good value round.

Played a week after some extended rains, so needed to make allowances. There were a few tunnels which required detours, and a bit of standing water in a very few spots, but most of the course was solid, playable, and lush. The rough hadn’t been mowed in a while, so any ball not in fairway was usually a treasure hunt. Greens were consistent. Course could use better markings at the turn, but overall had a good outing, lost balls aside.

Very Crowded, Slow pace

Course was in good condition and coastal weather should have led to a very nice outing. However we got off late, and followed 2 very slow foursomes to boot - most holes we were waiting for both foursomes to tee off before we could, even though there appeared to be no reason for their delay. No evident marshall correction on course.

Great Shape for PS summer

Early start time beats the heat. Conditions were excellent, but greens evidently had been aerated in the past and consistently slow. Layout was open with little trouble until close to the challenging greens. Traps were unmaintained, so played as Covid. Every green was surrounded by many elevation changes, so if not on, you were likely on side hill or pit of despair. Overall, fun round.

Ok value for the money in Rancho Mirage

Played for the first time in many years just as the course was getting ready for overseeding - of the 3 9-hole combos, played South and West 9s (The other was being renovated). Layout is fairly open through the surrounding homes, and the fairways were fairly well kept. Greens were pretty bland, with only a few not being dead flat. There a a few things that could be improved - a couple of holes had greens so close to each other that you had difficulty choosing yours or picking a fairway, and the first hole on the south 9 is a hidden, abrupt dogleg, guaranteed to mislead if you haven’t played it before... All in all, got a good fun day for a good price...

Good Conditions after the shutdown rest!

Played the day after the virus shutdown was lifted. The course was in great shape, except for a bunker or 2 which had some standing water (didn’t matter as no rakes meant we were improving our lies). Greens were ultra fast, tee boxes nice... layout is a bit tight.and tough for the average guy, with lots of elevation changes and lateral hazards to lay up or get over. Staff seemed to have it together for the reopening. Drink cart came around multiple times. All in all very enjoyable. The only general complaint I’d mention is that this club has a super aggressive gps governor on the carts, and the inaccessible parts of the course are generally not clearly marked - if you wander into one, you get a fair distance in before the gps warning flashes, then the cart stops (some king of lag?) but you are limited to a very painful and very slow reverse out of the area much farther than the warning/shutdown kicked in. There seemed to be no consistency regarding the placement or policy for these dead zones, so all of our foursome got tagged multiple times. If it had been a busier day, we’d be slowing everyone. Some tuning of the system is called for- other gps limiters are nowhere as aggressive.

Great Course

Course was in excellent condition- tee boxes, fairways, and greens were lush and well manicured. It’s pretty wide open with nice elevation changes - not too much trouble on the front nine, but water and bunkers come into play on the back nine. The only possible negative is the courses proximity to the airport noise, but that’s a minor point. Would play again when I’m in Palm Springs.

Forgiving Golf in a Crowd

Played this course a couple of times on weekends and found it fun and mostly very playable and forgiving - a number of bare spots, but generally ok fairways and very nice greens. Weekend pace was good and enjoyable - perhaps because the price was higher. Played on Friday, and while the course looked like there were a ton of open times for discounted fees, when we arrived it was a zoo, with golfers waiting around for carts and tee off. Starter was surly, and told us they were 1/2 hour behind on start times. When we did get called we were behind a 3 cart five some of women who insisted on hitting in order with very long set up for every shot/put. No Marshall evident. We managed to get 13 holes in before giving up after 5 hours...

Fun Course with a Few Challenges

Played on a hot Monday mid-day. I saw few other golfers on the course, and play was as fast as we wanted. Course was well watered, in spite of the heat. There were few unintentional bare spots - the course does have a number of desert features which cross the course between landing areas, as well as a few water hazards, but generally the fairways are wide and forgiving. The greens were aerated within the past few weeks and looked it, but seemed to roll fairly true. Facilities are a bit dated, and the surrounding properties are not terribly upscale, but would recommend the on-course experience, especially for the price.
