Grande Vista Golf Club
Played On 02/20/2019Just a 9 hole course.
I messed up and booked this course because it looked like a good deal, but found out when I got there that it’s only a nine hole course. It’s very nice and well maintained, but it’s not for the serious golfer.
Don’t make the mistake I made , even though your gold now settings are set to 18 holes, it still shows these courses and lets you book them. $55 down the drain.

This could be such a nice course if they put a bit more effort into the fairways and greens. I have to say that the layout of the course is a delight and the wildlife was worth the price of admission though. Amazing variety of birds make this course home, so even if your hitting on to messed up greens, you can watch the birds and still have a pretty good time.
River Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/09/2018Very disappointed in River Ridge
I booked this course online with Golf Now and they did not choose to tell Golf Now that they were going to punch the greens. Not only that, but they closed the back nine and made everyone play the front nine twice. It took me 50 minutes to drive to this course, but definitely wouldn’t have bothered if they would have been honest about the course conditions. Unfortunately you can’t get your money back from the course if you book with Golf Now, so I had to choose to play in terrible conditions or forgot the money I paid, talk about being out between a rock and a hard place.
And because they had every group playing just 9 holes, the pace of play was horrible. We jad holes where we waited forever to tee off, then waited some more to hit our approach shots.
Terrible experience that could have been avoided if the course had just been honest about the aeration work they were doing.

What a disaster. All the greens were punched a week ago and were slow and bumpy. And for the past few days they have been punching all the fairways and tee boxes. The tee boxes have zero grass on them, so your hitting off dirt on every hole. When you hit the ball in the fairways it bounces off clods of dirt and grass so thick that I actually had trouble finding my ball on 3 holes. What really bothered me about this was that it WAS NOT posted in GOlf Now! No aeriarion alert. But that’s not even the worst part about playing this course.
I arrived an hour and fifteen minutes early for my round to find the parking lot empty and only one drunk guy in the bar/restaurant. After putting and streatching for 30 minutes, not on group tees off, and the parking lot was still empty. I walked back the the pro shop and asked the guy if I should just tee off since the place as so empty, and he said no! You paid online at golf now and even though there was literally NOONE else there, I had to wait an hour for me tee time to go off or pay an additional $25 dollars to go off right away. I couldn’t believe it, but I told him that I’d sit there for the hour. After ten minutes of sitting in a cart, passing time and getting more mad by the second, the pro sop guy opens the side door and yells”Go”! I couldn’t believe this guy was actually yelling at me, I’m fifty five years old, not 6. So I just staired at him and shock and he did it again! “Go!” Unbelievable. I was totally blown away, no one has talked to me like that in at least 30 years. Then he did it again!!! This time he says “Go! Go tee off from the first tee!” I couldn’t even speak I was so surprised, I just drove off.
My suggestion to you is, DO NOT PAY the $75 they want to play this course under any circumstances. If you get a hot deal and pay $55, make sure you find the course conditions with them before you pay. I strongly believe the literally stole my money today. Terrible value for the money.
Per the courses comments below, there was no aerification advisory, none. If there had been I would have booked elsewhere. And what made this course a terrible experience, beyond the terrible conditions, was the incredibly rude staff. My comments stand, I would avoid this course at all costs, especially since there are so many other outstanding courses in the area that treat their customers with a base level of kindness and respect.

Old school golf baby! At this course you’d better bring your shot shaping abilities and keep it on the fairways! No really long holes, nothing more than 405 for a par 4, but your not going to be driving the greens even on the shorter ones. I was able to get home in two on two of the par 5”s, and all of the par 3”s were over 150 yards long from the white tees. Several of the fairways need more grass, and some of the bunkers were in tough shape, but the greens were in decent shape, and would be a lot better if you dopes would learn to fix your pitch marks. Great staff at the club house; they treated me with kindness and respect. Good value for the money but don’t expect fairways and greens like carpet, this is an old school, beautiful golf course that could be marvelous with a few 100k worth of grass seed and fertilizer.

Played On 06/18/2018Very nice
Outstanding course that’s getting a little work done around the greens. One small complaint about the greens staff, in that there more than a little rude. They don’t get out of the way when your trying to hit up to the greens they are working on, and fly around on there carts while your trying to hit. Obviously not golfers. We even had one guy nearly hit us with his cart , really dump behavior . Otherwise it’s a beautiful place.
The Challenge Golf Club
Played On 06/09/2018What a disaster- wish they would have told me before making the trip
I booked on golf advisor and the course did not note that the greens are a wreck! I drove 45 minutes to play the course and all but a few of the greens were totally dead, no grass and covered in the plugs they pulled out of the greens. Simply unplayable, no wonder the place was a almost empty. . Very unhappy with the fact they didn’t make a note of the terrible state of the greens.
Falls Village Golf Course
Played On 06/08/2018What a mess
Falls Village continues to be the trash course of The Raleigh/Durham area. The greens are a disaster, many have more dead grass than live, although it does look like they’re making an effort to fix them now. The fairways are in decent shape but you can see that they are not being watered and are dying off in areas. The tee boxes are also dying off, many are more dead than alive. The bunkers are just dirt, and some are filled with mud and/or standing water. It’s cheap though, and the layout could be really fun if the could find some money to invest in fixing it up.

All the greens were top dressed and very rough. A two putt about the best you could hope for. Still no live grass on the fairways because they weren’t over seeded . I’ll come back in May and check it out again and hopefully it will be better.
The starter was a real grumpy guy, and I had to inturrupt a conversation at the front counter about which gun the guys thought were the best to check in. And the snack bar had no fruit, so if you only eat processed food you’ll love it !
