I grew up in South Florida, and Colony West was once a championship course that everyone talked about. After not playing it for years, I went back about 7/8 years ago. The fairways were terrible but the greens were in good shape. The next few rounds were similar with the added negative of ridiculously slow pace of play.

Unfortunately, I think yesterday was my final time at Colony West. The greens were punched and we were not made aware of this, nor did Golf Now indicate it on the reservation. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in life.
The pace of play was ridiculously slow. We joined up with the twosome in front of us and to say they were beginners was an understatement. I don't care about that, but the group behind us was yelling at us the entire round. You get what you pay for and this couldn't be more true here. The people that this course attracts don't care about the course. I personally watched people take doormat divots and not put sand in them and I was fixing a minimum of 8-10 ball marks on every green. The layout of the course hasn't changed and it is great.and hole 14 is my favorite hole. I left the course upset once again that my hopes were crushed.
Until some major changes take place, this course ranks in the same tier as Orangebrooke, Grand Palms, and other courses that have let things go.

It's really disappointing because I was hoping for the best

What a hidden secret and a golf course that is in fantastic shape not too long but challenging

Disappointed I have been playing Timacuan for more than 25 years and it’s one of my favorite tracks in the Orlando area the course was a pleasant shade of brown with little grass to be found on any part of the course including the greens If you like extremely fast greens then this is the course for you right now as they are very fast it’s in decent shape but it’s not the Timacuan I remember

I have been playing the other local Coral Springs/Margate courses, and played Oriole this past Wednesday. I am a 4-6 handicap and consider myself a golf snob. Forget the fact that I only paid $15.00 to play. This is a fantastic municipal golf course. The greens are in the best shape of any course I have played in a while, the fairways are plush and green, and you get a sense that the people there care about the place. The staff is extremely friendly and they have great deals on food and drinks. It has an old school feel to it! I highly recommend it for a fun round of golf on a great municipal course.

Having played this course many times in the last few years we were pleasantly surprised about the shape of the course despite a tournament that was running long and a slow pace of play the course is getting back to the condition it used to be in greens rolling extremely fast And generally looks like it's being taken care of

Best secret in Miami is the Doral silver fox course I played this course for some high school matches 20 years ago and it was always an incredible lay out once it was purchased and made part of the resort it only got better I hear members don't like to play it because of the 11 minute cart ride it takes to get to the first hole but it is one of the best courses in South Florida The greens were in the best shape of any greens I have played in several years including several prestigious private courses didn't really want to write this review because I want to keep this secret I'll to myself

Course is in fantastic shape, very plush and green!!

I haven't played the Doral Silver since I played high school golf. With the rate that was offered, I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
As you take the 7 minute drive on the cart through the Blue monster and the other courses, you can't help but hear the maintenance crews and notice the crowdedness of the property. When I crossed the new bridge and came down to the first tee, I realized this was different. First of all, the course is in impeccable shape from tee to green. You can't see any other courses and it is very peaceful. The greens are are in great shape and extremely fast. As a 3 handicap, I found the tips very challenging and you have to be on your game on this course. I would not recommend this course to the average golfer. Overall it was a fantastic experience and it really is as good if not better than the other Doral courses. I'll be back soon!
