No Carts Available

There were no carts available and we had to wait for a long while to start.
There were no carts to take us to the driving range and the starter refused to refund the purchase of the range bucket.
When we eventually got a cart, there were no empty buckets to get balls from the machine.

The course was enjoyable. The restaurant was nice.

Nice course, bad Greens

This is a great practice course, but not for putting. The Greens are extremely slow, bumpy and unpredictable.
For beginner-intermediate golfers, this is great place to practice the full swing. The holes are regulation length with tree-lined fairways, demanding straight shots from tee-to-green.
It's always fun to meet a few good senior players at this location. They can teach everyone how to score low, even without a power game.

Excellent Short Course

This place is in excellent condition. The greens are nice and fast. The holes are short, but challenging. The bunkers and water hazards are well placed to make the entire round challenging.
I love playing here with just 3 clubs.

A Real Feel-Good Place for Golf

This little place is an excellent facility for any beginning golfer. I decided to play here because of the great "hot deal" from GolfNow.com. The experience was well worth the 45-minute drive from my home to the course.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly. This place has a nice driving range and the short course is great for someone who wants to improve their short game. The two par 4 holes can serve as a good test of your fairway wood / hybrid. The rest of the holes will test your short irons (6-PW). I chose to hit off the mats, without a tee and had a really nice round.
This place is just great for kids with a paid lesson program that includes practice range balls and course play.
When we were done playing, we liked the place so much that we decided to patronize the pub & grill. To our delight, the street tacos were superb and we ordered a second helping!
I'm ready to drive for 45-minutes again for a few more rounds with friends.

Super Fun Practice Nine

This course is a wonderful little course that is tucked away and seemingly hidden from most in the area. Playing here in the middle of the afternoon on a Thursday was a breeze. The course is always well-maintained and has a calming effect. I feel like you only need to hit 2 distances here - 125 yard +/- 10 and 150 yds +/- 10. Of course, that leaves the 8th hole, which is a nice 175 yds to the green, over the water. Yes, I lost one ball in that pond because I hit a fat shot that went only 160 instead of 175. :(
The rest of the course was really nice and fun. The golfer has the option of teeing the ball up or hitting off the mats. I chose the mats since I was only focused on practising my swing path and alignment of the club face. The course would be even more fun if the greens were faster and if there were a few more bunkers or a running creek that would cut through the middle.
This course and the Marriott hotel make for a very welcoming atmosphere.

A real waste

Whenever I would drive along the 405 freeway in Carson, CA I would look over and wish I could play here. I know now that only holes, 15 ,16, and 17 are decent. The fairways on every other hole are nothing but dirt with a few patches of non-playable grass, if you can find it. Without my contact lenses, I thought I was seeing fairway bunkers from many tee boxes, but it was really just dirt. I felt I played a pretty good round (low 90's) but everytime I had a good drive down the middle, I found myself with a hard pan, dirt shot to the hole. Afraid to hurt my shoulder on the swing and afraid to ruin my clubs, it was a challenge to stay focused mentally on the shot. I had trouble finding grass even when just 80 yds away from most greens. If I wanted to play a par-3 course, I could have just gone to one.
I will say that the greens were very well-maintained and the bunkers protecting the greens were nice. The rest of the course was a total waste.
Holes 15, 16, 17, 18 seemed nice to me.
My only consolation is that I pitched, chipped and putted really well. I seemed to find every bunker on the course, but that's just my luck - and no complaints about that. I had fun trying to get out of the bunkers.
Every hole was aggravating because there was so little grass on the fairways.
I had read a bad review about the fairways but I had already booked my round and thought that others were just complaining unnecessarily. I went there and proved to myself that I will likely never play here again. I can easily find par-3 courses with really nice greens in the South Bay and Long Beach.

Really Challenging and Fun Sunday

This course is just great! It's a good challenge for any mid-high handicapper. The staff was fantastic and friendly (not the Marshall, though - just kidding!
Our round went along at a normal weekend pace for So. California. I'm really surprised to read reviews complaining about pace of play - it's the norm around here. It's the Marshall's job to make sure play is moving along and they do a really great job at it. No complaints here.
If you keep it straight, you can score low, but that's the story about anywhere.
I'd love to come back and play here again sometime soon. I'm sure I'll do better here next time since this was only my second time playing here. Will be a bit more confident and be able to trust my game a bit more.
Come here with a good short game and you'll make up for any mistakes off the tee as long as you keep your ball in play.
