This is my second time playing here and I will return. It is a challenging course without being punishing. Even w/the Ross greens, a shot that comes up short is challenging and not impossible for this 14 HCP. There are a number of memorable holes with carry shots. The course was in good condition for winter golf. The greens had winter overseen, but rolled true: fast and somewhat firm, but you could get you shots to hold the green. The course definitely calls for game management and creativity!

This is one of the nicest s courses on LI! Can be pricey so play off season or on a hot deal! Soggy after rain. It is always in impeccable condition. A lot of variety but not penal. Highly recommend!

Willow is probably the most visually appealing public course on the island. It is also a tough test of most of the clubs in your bag. The only negatives are that it gets too soggy after rain, not really a walking course, and it’s too expensive during peak season. The greens are almost healed from aeration and the rest of the course is in great shape (that’s what you’re paying for!). One of my favorite courses.

I truly do not mind paying top dollar for a top course, this was not it. Cost was slightly cheaper than what was listed on GolfNow ($175 paid $150), so that was a nice surprise. The course design had a lot of interest and challenges, without too many lost balls! The conditions were, “meh” for ur being peak season. The greens were sanded and the fairways just didn’t have it. Well kept bunkers and a bit better than average tee boxes. Several holes played shorter than normal due and the 18th’s island green just didn’t pack the punch that it could. Overall an enjoyable round on a pretty good course.

This is a great, links style course with trees only on 4 or 5 holes. Long fescue mounds make off line shots difficult, and on a few holes it can be difficult to find a wayward ball, the first 3 holes are adjacent and so balls often find other holes’ fairways, so erratic ball strikers beware. The staff are nice, the Rangers are a bit grumpy, but that’s the job! I’ve played 5+ hour weekend rounds here so best to get out early (before 9) on weekends. There are a great variety of “types” of holes so the course keeps your interest. Greens are challenging, sometimes pin placements are a bit ridiculous, but not so for the last 2 rounds I played here. Range uses mats, I prefer grass. I have grown to really like this course the more I play it.

I played this course 3 years ago and I disliked it enough that I stayed away since. Having played all of the local courses, I decided it was time to give it another try. The course is laid out in a way that you are in danger from errant shots on 15 of the 18 holes. This the unsightly chain link fences at most tee boxes, but those can’t even protect you. The course is short, and the holes are laid out in a displeasing way in an effort to make a short course more challenging. Similarly, many greens are like carnival rides with mounds, severe ridges and bowls that make the hole inaccessible from many angles. The course was wet, evidencing poor drainage (one of the “bowls” on a green actually has a drain in it?!?), the sand was so compact and hard and the fairways, rough and greens were in good condition. The back 9 was better than the front, but there was a significant wait at every hole, a 5 hour 15 minute round. To add insult to injury, there were TWO Rangers on the course urging people to play faster as if we should all just finish holes quickly and instead, wait in a line at the next tee. I will never play this course again.

This is a very well maintained course that offers many challenges and rewards accuracy. Although I was able to find many balls in the fescue, there are ample opportunities to lose off-line balls. The consistent wind/breeze complicates matters (Even as it provides for more playable summer, city temps) and, if significant, can make play unenjoyable. It was a wee-designed and visually beautiful course. However, with the summer haze, city vistas were not as striking as one might expect from the location. Greens are large and undulating (typical of links style golf) but more of a style-hybrid being slower and slightly more “puttable”. At $117/round weekday on GolfNow it is worth a play, but I think any higher rate for this course is questionable. Great for a “special” round (Eg bachelor party) with a resort, well maintained, free driving range feel.

This is the best value for your money among private courses. Course is in good condition. Great pace early (8a tee, 4 hr round); can get crowded midday. Great staff, very welcoming. Had my first eagle and tied my best score!

The course is in nice condition. I like trees on courses and this is a links style course. It is very fun to play, even with the clownish pin placements in the middle of slopes on green etc. it was nicely spaced during social distancing rules, even on a busy Sunday. Great round.

This is a beautiful and challenging course with a lot of diverse but cohesive holes. It rained heavily the night before and the course was saturate in some areas and drained well in others, but overall very playable. This is a tough test of golf and a really well designed and fun course. Grass driving range is always a plus (the try to make you use the mats but, nah)!

Played the Woods many times and I really like the challenge and layout. Being offline is punishing as second shots tend to hit branches and recovering can be difficult. The course is in great condition and greens were beautiful. The staff is so nice. Last time I left my P on course and I got a call 4 days later and got it back! The only downside is the range is on the other course across the street plus a short walk &it’s expensive so get there early if you like the range.

This course is a great value and a very nice challenge. Lots of bunkers makes it a target golf round, but there is plenty of room to miss without major penalty. The greens were stressed and so there was some bounce to the roll. The real grass practice range is an important feasting me. I will be heading back befor the end of the season.
