Bondhay Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 09/27/2017Challenging but fun
This was our 2nd time playing Bondhay. The first time it poured down but we enjoyed it that much we had to come back for another go in more pleasant conditions. The course is challenging but plays incredibly well, weather a beginner or seasoned player, with plenty of bunkers and water hazards. The greens are in excellent condition and there are a few with multi tiers to add interest (and frustration). When you have completed your game, the clubhouse offers a great range of drinks and food at very reasonable prices and yes, the locals really are a friendly bunch. I highly recommend this course for a great day out and some fun golfing.

This was a new course for all three of us on our visit and it was a pleasant visual approach as we turned off the main road and up the short drive to the club house.
We weren't disappointed with the pleasant welcome and trouble free book in on arrival.
The course was a real test of skill and many times we could have done with some local course knowledge as it is quite hilly with a lot of blind shots but we found that added to the interest and evened out the handicap range of 14 to 28.
OK, it wasn't our best scores but we weren't expecting that on a course non of us had played.
At the finish, apart from confirming I'd had too many cream scones on my previous Devon hols, the 19th was great as we sat out on the balcony in the blazing sun enjoying the relaxation and watching the other players coming in.
The only criticism we all had was that the direction to the next tee could have been better. Some holes were signed well but some were a struggle as there seemed to be no signs and various possible directions. Other than that, we all had really good days golf and highly recommend the course.
