Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course
Played On 06/19/2022A sad trip down memory lane
I had played this course as a kid with my father about 25 years ago. It was a real treat back then. A great layout for all 3 of the 9’s with a great mix of challenging and getable holes. Conditions used to be awesome..
Fast forward to Father’s Day 2022 and our group wasn’t able to complete our round because of a completely unattended to pace of play. We played 11 holes in 3.5 hours. The entire time we never saw a single ranger.
Condition wise, the greens were actually great. Firm and fast. Tee boxes are generally not level, riddled with divots, and not well mowed. Rough is what you would expect at a mid or low level municipal course. Cart paths rival a back breaking off-road adventure.
Sadly, the experience was so disappointing that I’ll be certain to not go back. It confirmed that paying the premium for a course like Wild Turkey really is worth the extra money.
I had really hoped for an enjoyable trip down memory lane and left with nothing short of total disappointment.

What a great course. Challenging but fair. Really great shape. Can’t wait to go back.
Royce Brook Golf Club - West Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2020Too bad it used to be really nice
Completely burned out. Too bad, it used to be a great course last year.
Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
Played On 07/04/2020Typical County Course Conditions
Greens were in good shape. Rough is mostly burnt out. Fairways are alright. Staff was great and taking provisions for social distancing. It’s a good value for twilight. Conditions used to be great years ago.
Connecticut National Golf Club
Played On 07/22/2019Could be really great with some improvement in conditions
You can see the potential. Plays a lot shorter than the 7,000 on the card from the black tee with the changes in elevation. A fair price for a fair place but wouldn’t go too far out of the way to play.
Royce Brook Golf Club - West Golf Course
Played On 06/17/2018Great Shape
Course was in fantastic shape. Well worth the fee. Pace of play was 4:30.
Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course

Well worth the trip and the price. One of the nicest county courses you will find.

Always a solid course. Worth the drive.
High Bridge Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/27/201417 Holes in 5 Hours & Walked Off
Not a single ranger on the entire course on a Saturday afternoon. The course was essentially staffed by three teenagers and the beverage cart woman.
We walked off the course after hitting our tee shots on the 17th hole considering we were about to break the 5 hour mark. Not one helped in any way to improve the pace of play or identify the issues. Every tee was backed up a minimum of two groups.
If you are looking for premium golf, go elsewhere. For the price you can find the same at any of the Crystal Springs courses or Architect's.
I will not be back.
Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
Played On 05/26/2014Slow Day
Pace of play was slow and they were 30 minutes behind on tee times. For those people who wanted to ride I heard they ran out of carts.
I haven't been here in a few years because the conditions were so bad. They've come a VERY long way. Especially the greens. Very solid.
Wild Turkey Golf Club
Played On 5/5/2013Great Day @ Wild Turkey
Course was in good condition for the time of year. Only area that could have used some attention was bunkers. Being that we were an earlier tee time I don't imagine they were unkempt due to the amount of play they received. Otherwise, tees were great, fairways were great, and greens were smooth and rolling. Wild Turkey always proves to be worth the money.
Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course
Played On 4/21/2013Sad to see it this way
I used to play this course with my father 15 years ago. It was a fun course and it was always in good shape. Seeing it today was a sad sight. Conditions are very poor (not even considering the greens which were typical for the time of year). Pace of play is probably 5-6 hours and there wasn't a ranger anywhere to be found. If you're considering coming here do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to play Crystal or Turkey.
