Frequent visitor; always a fun course

Course was in great shape, and this was the first time I have played here that they had the grass range open! I'm sure they have the grass range open, but I usually am not able to play when they have it open. It was in great shape, and enjoyed using the grass. Chipping area was also in great shape! We played on a Saturday afternoon, and the course was EMPTY. The weather was great when we started, but was rainy by the time we got to the 14th or 15th hole; maybe that was what was putting people off. Whatever the case may be, we did not see a SINGLE PERSON out on the course. We played as a 4-some, and were able to take our time on all the holes, and still finish in less than 4 hours. The fairways were still in good shape, and greens were rolling true and quick. They really do take care of this course all year long. I will certainly be back to play in the winter months! When this course is as cheap as Westpark or Brambleton, and I am only 10 minutes away, it is certainly a no-brainer! Well done, Raspberry Falls!!

Fun day, a bit windy, but course in great shape!

Had a 2 pm tee time, and had a great round! Very open tee sheet so we took our time getting ready before heading out. Chipped a bit and putted a bit on the putting green because these greens can be deceptively fast! Played as a 3-some in less than 4 hours, and we weren't really rushing. No problems with pace of play whatsoever. Course was in great shape! Fairways were lush, and even the rough wasn't too terrible. It played fair; if you missed your drive then you were certainly going to be penalized in the rough. Greens rolled true, but had some unprepared ball marks (customary for most Northern VA courses). Overall, course was in fantastic shape, and I will definitely be back! Played from the blues and it was very manageable. Good course run by the city of Herndon!

Good conditions

Round was a bit windy, but beautiful weather for this late in October. That being said, it was surprisingly busy, but nothing outside what you would expect. Fairways were in pretty good shape, and greens were good as well! Always a good time to come out to Brambleton, and look forward to coming back.

Good calue

Course was in pretty good shape. The rain has definitely helped with that this summer, and they have dint a good job keeping the fairways and greens trimmed. Bunkers were a bit compact, but that is not a huge deal. Course does not play particularly long, but still poses a good challenge. For a Sunday afternoon, the pace of play was pretty quick. Played as a 4-some in less than 4 hours and did not have to wait anywhere. Rangers were making their way around the course, and were available to help and nice guys! Will be back.

Good course with plenty of water

Enjoyed the round at 1757. The weather was pretty nice, but there was a bit of a breeze. Nothing much to contend with, but made tough gauging distances on a couple holes. Some short par 4s, but not all of them require driver. There are a couple reachable par 4s where "grip it and rip it" is definitely in play. Number 4 is a good example. Just keep it left of the water and you are just fine. Number 9 is a very reachable par 5 where you, again, have to keep it left and out of the water. The back 9 starts off with a tough par 5, where even the lay up can be in a tough spot. The course has a nice finishing hole; par 3 hole where the wind can wreak havoc on the tee shot...I overclubbed and ended up on the practice putting green! It was an enjoyable round where staying LEFT of the water on most holes will be your friend :)

Good course nestled in Herndon

Had never played here before, and had just recently heard of this course. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the course. For late December, the course was in great shape. There had been rain in the last couple days and so it was cart path only (most courses this time of year will be cart path only anyway), but the fairways were still in great shape. The greens still rolled pretty well and were a challenge. You had to hit your shots onto the correct level or you had a challenging putt coming up! This course had a good variety of holes, and made it challenging. The wind was pretty tricky to deal with, and so that made the short par 3s tough! Overall, we had a great time on the course, and it was pretty empty so we finished our round pretty fast (didn't officially keep time, but it was way less than 4 hours). I don't know if I'd pay the full price again, and will be looking for hot deals on GolfNow if I am to play this course again. Heard the clubhouse has great BBQ, but did not try it...will try it next time I am here!

Good value for money

I played this course on my way down to Wintergreen Resort, and met some friends down here en route. Was a fun course to play that was not terribly long, but you had to hit the ball in the correct spots. The greens had been recently punched (maybe a week or so prior), but they were still rolling very well. We played Olde/Creek, and it was a fairly challenging round. Driver is not necessary on a number of holes, and so it really makes you think about what shot to play. Otherwise, it was a fun round even though it rained for a couple holes! Only paid $10, and so it was well worth it!

Great Value!

A nice course nestled in Sterling away from the commotion of NoVa life! We teed off around 415 and we absolutely blazed through the round in 3 hours and some change...we were taking our time on most every shot, and just enjoying a nice evening round of golf. The course was in really good shape, and played pretty tough even from the whites. The greens were a bit slow for it being July, but they still rolled pretty flat. It is pretty easy to play an entire round without losing a ball, and still shoot a high number. Most holes have trees that line most fairways, and if you're in behind one, expect just a simple punch out and take your medicine. There were plenty of deer roaming freely on the course, but they were not a nuisance in any way. The staff were very friendly, and the electric carts were pretty new, and ran really well. All in all, it was a really enjoyable evening of golf, and we will definitely be back again!

A great hot deal value

First time playing the course, and really enjoyed our experience! Jonny in the pro shop was very accommodating and pleasant and explained everything very well! The starter, Lazlo, was awesome! The other player in our group was going to be late, and Lazlo was very accommodating and just set us off and let our buddy catch up later. Good man Lazlo! The course was in really good shape. The greens were fast and receptive. A lot of area courses just make the greens firm and very difficult to reward good iron shots. The holes were cut in good locations that made it challenging and fun. Fairways were immaculate, and rolled very well. There were houses around the course, but none were that close to the course. Pace of play wasn't too terrible. It did slow down a little on the back 9, but we still finished in under 4 hours. There was a marshall out and about so I think that helped keep things moving. I would play here again, but probably as a hot deal during the week...like most nicer courses in the area, I can't bring myself to pay $75-$85 or more during peak times on weekends. I can definitely see this place getting WAY BACKED UP on weekends. Tee times spaced out every 8 minutes is not enough to give players of varying skill level enough time to get out of the way. But that is a common occurrence with places like here, 1757, and I think Raspberry Falls. But that's just what we have to live with in this area!

Good value but only cause of hot deal!

It was an enjoyable round of golf for the price that we paid ($30). There was no driving range unfortunately, but there was a chipping/putting green next to the 1st tee. The conditions were pretty decent. The fairways were good for the most part, and the greens had decent speed. There was some construction on one of the holes and so they moved all the tees forward so it was playing as a 450 yard par 5 for everyone. A good scoring chance! Another quirky aspect was the fact that the 9th hole wasn't anywhere near the clubhouse. It was a shame but there was a cart girl who made her way around several times. I would not pay $50 for a regular fee to play here, but when there is another hot deal, I will be back...this is definitely a course that requires some knowledge as to where to hit it. Overall, not a bad day to golf.

Good value for the money

Snagged a hot deal on Golfnow and only paid $12 plus tax. Walked 18 holes in a couple hours hitting multiple shots per hole. I teed off around 10 am and only a smattering of other golfers around. A great course to work on iron play and wedges. Holes range from 90 yards to close to 200 yards. The gentleman in the pro shop was very nice and welcoming and although the greens were a bit slow, I can't really complain about my experience. Really fun little course!

Fun course at a GREAT price

We booked through Golfnow and got an AWESOME price ($25 for 18 with cart). In a couple weeks, this will be a $100/round course. Is it worth that price? Debatable. Nonetheless, it is a course that has some fun holes with some tricky pin placements. It was really tough to stop putts that were above the hole. These greens were rolling very well for this time of year. With the official start of the season a couple weeks away, this course was in very good shape. The rough was not too terrible, but the ball definitely jumped out of the rough, and that made it tough to stop on the greens. The bunkers were filled very well, and the sand was very well taken care of. Several of the holes feature water hazards that really played into the risk-reward factors of the holes. There were a few short par 4 holes that really tempted the use of driver, which really was not necessary. The 9th hole was an example of this; it is a straight forward 300 yard par 4 that one can get close to with a well hit drive. However, woods line both sides of the hole, and so keeping the driver in the bag and maybe teeing off with a 3 wood or even long iron is the smart play. Otherwise, this was a good course, and I will definitely be back to play it, but will be playing it when the deals are as hot as they were when my group and I played! The patio out back made for some good viewing as players came down the 18th or teed off number 10. I enjoyed the selection of draft beers available in the clubhouse, in addition to the canned beverages. A fun day had by all of us.

South Riding Course Review

This was my first time playing South Riding, and we got a decent rate for $50 on a Saturday morning. There was no internet working at the course when we got there, and so they had to take down our credit numbers and charge us later...no big deal, but a bit surprising. I hit a small bucket of balls to warm up before my round, and I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the range. There is a grass hitting area, but that was closed since it is still early in the season. That's not my biggest complaint. The issue was that the range mats were atrocious! They were on a slight incilne, and so the ball at times would not even stay in its place. Surely for the money that this place charges, they can do better than that. I frequent Westpark a lot, and the mats there are in much better shape. There was a nice putting green and chipping area, but I didn't use those.

The course itself was in pretty good shape! The fairways were in very good shape, and the ball definitely had some good roll on them. The greens as well rolled very nice for this time of year. There were a few bunkers that were still being repaired, and so it was a free drop under GUR rules. It wasn't too many that were being repaired, and so hopefully in due time they will be done. The ones that had been recently renovated were in really good shape. The tee boxes were also in good shape.

The course definitely has some interesting holes; driver is not necessary on a lot of them, and so choose wisely. The short par-4 17th was definitely a fun hole to play. There were a couple of long par 3s, but nothing too crazy. Overall it was a good round, and we were out at 8:30, and were not pressed for time at all. We let a twosome play through, and we still finished in under 4 hours as a foursome. I generally shoot mid 90s and I shot right in that range from the blue tees; it's a challenge for sure, but it was an enjoyable Saturday morning round of golf.

Great weather for a fun round!

This was my first time playing Heritage Oaks, and I had a great time. I was playing with some college friends, and we had a bit of a mix up with how many people were going to be in our group. We only paid for 3, but we had to add a 4th once we got there. Golfnow had put a single with our group of 3 (as we had booked using the app), but he went off with another group and so our foursome was able to go off together. The girl at the front desk was very helpful in handling that tricky situation. The pace of play was pretty good; it was what was to be expected on a beautiful 70 degree day in December. The foursome ahead of us probably finished in just over 4 hours, and so did we. At one point, however, we had one of the female marshalls tell us to keep up with the group ahead of us...I was a bit surprised with this since we had to wait on virtually every tee shot, and were playing at a sub-4 hour pace. We mentioned this to her, and kept playing at the same pace. There was a 2-some behind us, and they were catching up to us, but really that was just the luck of the draw. There was nowhere for them to go. There were groups pretty much all the way in. Otherwise, some course knowledge is helpful as the driver is not always necessary on some holes. My friends had played the course before, and so they knew the lines to take on some of the blind tee shots. Signs along the course would also be helpful since some of the holes are not near each other at all. The course winds around, and so it would be helpful for there to be some more signs directing where to go on some of the longer drives between holes. The course was in good shape; the bunkers weren't great, but that's kind of expected at this time of year. The fairways were in really good shape, and the greens were also well kept. They rolled pretty well, and were receptive to well played shots. A lot of the tee boxes were moved up (as is common during the winter to preserve the grass), and so the course was not overly long. We played from the gold tees, and the card said they measured in at about 5900 yards, but it was probably a couple hundred yards short of that with the tees being moved up. It made some of the holes risk-reward, as a well played drive left only a sand wedge into a lot of the par 4s! We had a great afternoon, and next time I am in the Harrisonburg area, I will be sure to play again.

Enjoyable Round! Fast Front 9, Slow Back 9.

I had an enjoyable, last minute round at Goose Creek! I booked my 3:00 tee time at 2:30, and just got to the course on time. The staff was very accommodating, and the gentleman in the pro shop even reduced my rate since GolfNow charged me a bit more. The rate I got on GolfNow was $46, but the rate at that time of day was $39. He charged me for $39, and that was much appreciated! Fairways were very well manicured. Greens were firm, and rolled very smooth. The pace on the front 9 was very quick, but it bottlenecked very quickly on the back 9. I was waiting on pretty much every tee shot after hole number 12 on the back 9. I eventually paired up with a couple nice guys on hole number 15, and we were able to finish quicker after that. Otherwise, the round was fun, and the course is in great shape! This was only my 3rd time playing Goose Creek, but I have enjoyed every time I have been here. I know some people aren't a fan of the lack of a driving range, but I usually just pitch and putt before a round anyway, and so that was not a big deal to me! Enjoy your round!

Very pleasant experience

This was my first time playing Raspberry Falls, and my experience was wonderful. From the moment I got there, I was made to feel very welcome. I do have to say I have never been to a course where there are already balls ready at the driving range stations! The driving range is well kept, the chipping green is very useful although I did not use it, and the putting green is also well manicured. The main thing I would say is just put the ball in the fairway! The rough is challenging! If I had to be nit picky about anything, i would say it was the lack of distance markers on the par 3s. With tees being moved around, this would have been beneficial. But that's just being picky. The tee boxes were well groomed and the fairways and greens were immaculate. Beverage cart girl was around and the food in the clubhouse at the turn was good. Teed off at 11 as a 3some and we were done around 3ish. We were taking our time as it was not busy. The view on the 18th tee is stunning. Might be worth it to hit a shot from the back tees just for laughs! An all-around good day, and I will be back in the future. Paid $50 for 18 with a cart...no complaints there. Played from the blue tees and the ~6300 yards was an adequate challenge. Shot an 88.

Very good course for a great deal from Golfnow!

I booked the tee time through Golfnow, and paid $20/person. The course rates normally run twice that amount, if not more. The weather was extremely warm (mid 90s), but for a 12:30 tee time, that was expected. My brother and I were going to play together, but were paired up with a nice gentleman, Roger, at the first tee. The rough was very tough to play out of, and the trees were pretty intimidating as well. If you were lucky enough to find your ball in the trees, it was just a punch out back into the fairway. There were rangers/marshalls on the course helping out with looking for balls, and helping out in any way they could...a pleasant sight to see. The pace wasn't overly slow, as there was a foursome in front of us, and so were in no particular rush. The greens were receptive to well placed iron shots, but leaving putts above the hole left very tricky downhill putts. Driver wasn't always necessary on the longer holes, and so choose wisely! The 5th hole was a short/downhill par 4 where only a mid iron is necessary off the tee. That was my favorite hole of the course. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and I will definitely return to the course when they have more deals like this! Too expensive for me when they charge regular rates! However, it is certainly a course I would recommend. Not too challenging for a hacker like me, but provides a good challenge even for more experienced golfers.

Really good for the money.

I am a beginner, and so I would. Say this course is challenging, but also fun. The pace of play is good, and most people are good about keeping the speed up. I was by myself the other day, an caught up to a foursome on a par 3, and they saw me at the tee while they were down at the green and still let me play through. Everyone I have encountered is pleasant...from staff to fellow golfers. The greens are in pretty good shape, and most of the fairways are in decent shape. Again, I'm a beginner, and so from the limited knowledge I have about golf courses, I would say this one is good for the value, and also a good experience!
