The Pro Shop people were not very welcoming...the greens were aerated and top dressed, sand was heavy in some areas...fairways were wet and muddy in places but the greens were rock hard.

I was disappointed in this Donald Ross Course.

The course is very flat and the fairways are not over seeded so they are dormant and brown. They are still playable if you roll the ball a little. The greens were very green and have subtle breaks and semi-fast with false edges just to keep you on your toes. Pace of play was good.

The course has a special for Wednesdays until March 7th...I was not aware. They have a bus pick up players in Destin and take them to the course. There is no Marshal on the course and the course gets very crowded and slow.

I spoke to the person in the pro shop after play and they said...Yes, it does get pretty crowed out there. I will not be back to play on a Wednesday.

As the weather has gotten warmer this winter the course has had a lot more play and the grass on the fairways and greens has not done well. The greens have a lot of Poa Annua and are OK to putt if you play early in the day but become bumpy if playing later. The greens are receptive to a good shot and the bunkers are in fair to good condition.

We were first ones off so the pace of play was not an issue. This course is difficult to get to and will take you more time than you think. The clubhouse is underwhelming...the carts are gas and the parking lot is small. The fairways have large sections of new sod and sometimes you have to look for some grass to hit from. The green complex is interesting with lots of elevation changes and the greens are in fair condition. A few interesting holes. There are lots of sand and water hazards to keep you on your toes.
