Fun course, lots of risk/reward

Providence Golf Club is a really fun layout. Those who crave punishment from only the most difficult of courses probably won't see it they way I did. This course however is not to be missed. A great collection interesting holes, full of shot-shaping and risk/reward opportunities. The course conditions were what I expected coming out of a wet winter, a few soft spots but no balls were plugging. Greens had recently been aerated but the maintenance staff had done a wonderful job sanding them and they rolled true even still. Played the tips, though only 6500, the design made me think before pulling driver (something I think every course should do). Played after twilight so for $26 this was a marvelous value. I'd play here again and again. Can't wait to play it after its grown back in.

Good time had by all.

Played Big Oak with my father-in-law and brother-in-law, both not great golfers. The course was good for them and interesting enough for me (2.4 index). Greens were a tad slow for me but smooth, some with a good amount of undulations. Fairways on the front were a little baked, but the back was much greener. Pace of play was fine, played in about 3 1/2 hours with them in a cart and me walking. Never felt hurried or held up. My only complaints would be there aren’t a lot of yardage markers so a rangefinder or GPS is a must to keep things moving, and from the back tees there are a few tee shots where some trees need trimmed. Having a tee shot that is one to two yards off your start line will get knocked out of the air. All in all a fun time and would definitely go back again.

Nice track

Played while on vacation at Keuka Lake. Definitely play the weekend after 2:30, felt much better playing for $40 as opposed to $60. Interesting layout, challenging off the tee, many blind tee shots. Would love to play there again now that I know where to hit it. Greens were medium-fast with very true roll. Looks like they were punched a month or so ago but no bouncing on putts. Course was empty so pace of play was whatever we wanted it to be. Loved the great views of the lake, especially from behind #5 green and #10 green.
