Falcon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2022Disappointed
Sadly one of my favorite courses in the Orlando area disappointed. At any price this would have been a disappointing experience, but at nearly $140 the only word to describe it outrageous. Fairways were long and shaggy, not the usual conditions I expect at FF. Greens were full of bare spots and a patchwork of poorly executed repairs. We only saw a ranger one time during our round so we spent our morning waiting for two groups in front of us taking multiple mulligans and a general disinterest in respecting paice of play.
Crooked Cat at Orange County National
Played On 03/16/2022Good test
Had family visiting from out of town so OCN was a must play. Crooked Cat presented a great test and a truly enjoyable experience. Greens were in great condition and fairways were as you would expect at a top tier golf course.
The only negative was our post round lunch. Our server was slow arriving at the table and then forgot drink orders and refill requests. Food was good so may have just been an overwhelmed server.
Thank you for your 5-star review! We here at Orange County National appreciate our guests taking the time to tell us about their experience! We look forward to seeing you out again very soon!

Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 01/14/2022Best greens in central Florida
These are the best greens around. They roll fast and true and are without a blemish. Course conditions are always immaculate but the star of the show at RSC is the staff. From the time you check-in in the golf shop, to the starter and the marshal/ranger the staff is friendly and professional.
Finish your day with lunch in the restaurant and it is a perfect day. RSC never disappoints
Zellwood Station & Country Club
Played On 08/27/2021Great layout not great conditions
Love the layout of this course but the turf conditions are not great. Fairways are full of weeds and the greens, that have been good on past visits, were not good today.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We are constantly maintaining the course to improve the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Zellwood Station & Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Great Outdoors RV & Golf Resort
Played On 05/28/2021Great Greens
The greens were amazing, running fast and true while the fairways and tee boxes had spotty conditions. Interesting layout and very friendly staff. The on-site restaurant had a varied menu and good food.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 01/15/2021Great course with an even better staff
This is a great golf course with maybe the best staff around. Staff is knowledgeable and courteous with starters and rangers that handle their jobs competently with a friendly tone and a smile. Witnessed the starter and ranger deal with a foursome that was overreacting to what was at worst a mild inconvenience. Staff clearly communicated the options and adeptly diffused the situation.
The course in in great shape and the improvements to the blue nine turned out really nice. A unique links course that offers quality golf at a reasonable price.
Casselberry Golf Club
Played On 11/13/2020Only back 9
There has been a lot of rain but we were surprised when we arrived for our tee time to learn that the front 9 was closed. We were told we could play the back twice.
Greens were very slow and tees were unmowed. Still, it’s a fun course to play just disappointed in the conditions and limitations.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 10/30/2020Great course got even better
An already great course puts tons of money into improvements and the result is a truly amazing golf experience. Don’t miss the restaurant for food and drinks after your round.
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 10/02/2020Conditions not up to normal standards
Hope this course isn’t heading doing hill as so many courses have in recent years. Turf in fairways was thin/sparse and greens were fuzzy and extremely slow. I’m hoping it is just temporary with all of the rain we have had, but other courses seem to have managed their turf better through these challenges.
Great course, that has closed most of their clubhouse facilities for renovations (encouraging). Hoping they are able to get back to their previous maintenance standards.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 09/18/2020Central Florida Gem
One of my favorite central FL courses. Great layout, great staff and great restaurant! Wide fairways are very forgiving but every stroke gained by hitting the fairway is at risk of being lost when you get on and around the greens. Your short game and putting will be put to the test. A very enjoyable test of your game!
North Shore Golf Course
Played On 09/04/2020Nice Course
Nice layout and for the most part good conditions. A few bare spots around some of the greens and some weeds (as with most courses at this time of year).
Staff was friendly but appeared to be a little short handed on the morning that we played.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 08/21/2020Different in a good way!
RSC is a links style course, a style that is not common in central Florida. The wide fairways and large greens are inviting but don’t be deceived, this is not an easy course. A thrill to play - great conditions and professional staff!
Don’t miss the restaurant after your round. Great food
Remington Golf Club
Played On 08/30/2019Sad decline
You can tell this was once a premier course. Nice layout, grand clubhouse. Unfortunately, as with so many courses today, Remington is suffering from deferred maintenance and it appears cash flow may be affecting day to day maintenance. Staff was friendly, and it was an enjoyable round of golf. Unfortunately I left with the feeling of “if only”.
North Shore Golf Course
Played On 02/01/2019Great Value
Greens among the best in the area and a first class layout make this a must play. Greens double cut and rolled and were rolling at 13 on the stimp meter. Front nine is long and challenging and back nine, although plenty long is much tighter with large oaks influencing shots on most holes.
Private course conditions at public course prices.
Falcon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 10/12/2013Fairways great, greens top dressed
This is one of my favorite courses. I love the layout, the placement of traps and how water is brought into play on this course. On the day I played the fairways were in pristine condition and the traps/bunkers were well maintained. My only disappointment was that the greens had been recently top dressed and the residual on the greens was inconsistent from green to green making it difficult to read puts. Some greens were running as fast as a 9 or 10 while areas of other greens were closer to a 6 or 7. That said, still a great round of golf on a beautiful golf course.
Deer Island Country Club
Played On 06/15/2013Great layout but greens need some TLC
First time playing Deer Island. It was a Great layout but greens need some TLC. The fairways were in great shape but they were having some turf issues on the greens. Most greens had some damage and bare spots that affected putting.
This course is a beautiful and challenging layout with water coming into play on many holes. It was particularly challenging on the day I played with the winds coming off Lake Dora. If they are able to get the greens up to the same level as the fairways I would make this a 5 star course.
Winter Pines Golf Club
Played On 8/4/2012Great course to walk
n the Orlando area (and most of Florida) there are very few courses that allow walking. When a course does allow walking, it is usually either a goat pasture with an assortment of 100 yard par 3's. So I was pleasantly surprised to find Winter Pines. It is a full sized (although somewhat short) golf course that sports conditions as good as any course I have played in the Orlando area.
The front 9 is a par 36 and is a pretty layout with a good mix of holes with par 4's ranging from 300 to 400 yards from the tips. Just in case you think length is not required, when you make the turn to the back 9 you find no par 5'a but instead there are three par 3's that play over 200 yards from the blue tees.
I chose this course so I could walk rather than ride following a hip replacement, I now choose this course because it is a great place to play. The only drawback (if you are impatient) is that the pace of play can get a little slow on the weekends when lower skilled players flock to this course that is a perfect venue for the novice golfer. Myself, I prefer to just remember the days when I was them, and enjoy my wonderful walk on a great golf course.
I have paid a lot more money to play on a lot worse golf courses. I recommend you try this gem. Maybe I will see you there.
