Dragonfly Golf Links
Played On 08/30/2019Lovely day!
I played Dragonfly for the first time today and I enjoyed it fully! The staff was super friendly! Their kindness was a breath of fresh air for a guy who lives and plays out of Toronto.
Additional, their twilight rates are fair. The course was in good shape, the front 9 is more of a links design, and the back 9 is more of a target golf layout. The driving range was very ideal. And the price for a medium bucket was a steal.
Pace of play was good, had a few bottle necks but nothing out of the ordinary. Next time I am in the area I will definitely replay this friendly goat frack.
Deerfield Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2019The return!
Played this course for the second time since my first time back in the summer of 2015. At the time, I had recently began playing golf again after a 20 year layoff.
Overall the course is “okay”...in my opinion! The course design offers legitimate challenges for sure, however the green fees doesn’t match the quality of the golf experience. So far this season, I have played courses in much better condition for around the same price point.
Also, one my BIGGEST pet peeves is “crowned tee boxes”... a lot of older courses or “goat tracks” employ this design flaw. Hitting your first tee shots on holes from uneven lies is a bit ridiculous. Additional, the range is “mats only” and the mats aren’t in good shape. I don’t mind hitting off mats...I do prefer hitting off grass ranges before my rounds. But the mats there need to be replaced!
My playing partner and I decided on this course since he had never played the course. So we played a birthday round to celebrate his 67th year of existence. A few positives of from the course: pro shop staff were friendly, Starter was super chill, we played on a Tuesday afternoon so the course was very open. Didn’t have to wait to tee off till Hole #16.
Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/23/2019North GTA
Played this course for the first time with a friend of mine on a Tuesday. We played 18 holes with a cart within 3 hours and 35 minutes, and that’s with playing from the longest tee boxes.
On site staff was great...very friendly. This course has a range that hits into a pond, first time seeing one of these. Only gripe I have with this course is with the grounds crew who put the tee box markers into the ground.
The colour order on the scorecard are (Red, White, Blue, Gold). But some boxes had the order mixed up! Made for a bit of a challenge when we came into contact with one back 9 hole to one front 9 hole.
Overall good value.
Thank you for the review. Sounds like some confusion with the tee boxes and first we had heard of it. Have passed along the info to our superintendent but glad to hear you enjoyed your visit otherwise.
Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club - Upper
Played On 07/16/2019Great day for golf!
Took the opportunity to play the courses at Remington earlier this week. My playing partner and I started our round on the Upper Course, which is the longer track of the two.
The course was very wide open and the greens were a bit slower than I was use to. Overall not too many challenges. The sand traps were a bit light on sand but that’s usually how it goes with most public courses.
After our round on the Upper Course, the attendant in the Pro Shop allowed us to play The Valley Course free of charge...major bonus points on my end.
Overall this course is great for the value. Only drawback is the lack of a “official” full practice range. If you’re a golfer who can dial in your game straight from the car to the first tee? This is your type of track.
Ballantrae Golf Club
Played On 07/09/2019Good Times!
Just finished playing Ballantrae today with a friend of mine. First time playing this course. I was very impressed with the condition of this spot. Fairway, Greens, and the Rough were a 100% ideal.
For a course surrounded by semi-retirement homes this place was primetime! The greens ran true and there were a few times I decided to putt from the fringe of the greens. Overall a great buy for $75 ish.
FYI Tuesdays are the best day to play, a lot of open tee times and less players on the course. Take advantage of the pre-round range. Ballantrae is a must play for all Toronto & GTA golfheads.
Club at Bond Head - South
Played On 07/04/2019Great course!
Just finished playing Bond Head - South this afternoon. Overall it was a good time. The course was in great shape and the greens were very challenging to read.
Only complaint I have is with today’s Marshall being presumptuous on my group playing too slow. However, the Starter decided to pair myself and my playing partner with another pair...which makes 4 persons at a tee time. When you have four people playing the same hole at once with different tee boxes the pace is going to be slow.
But in our case, after I checked my watch timer at hole 7 we were a bit under 2 hours, and we had just teed off. Our pace was on point despite the unwarranted comments by the Marshall. In the end our group was split into two, which it should’ve been from the start!
We ended up completing our round in 4 hours and 20 minutes. Moving forward I would recommend on-course staff to push groups of two ahead separately if they aren’t booked together. We weren’t playing in a charity tournament!
The Pro shop ladies and lady in the cart were very nice! Perhaps the on-course crew could use a woman’s touch or influence in order to think differently!
Hi donoservice. Thanks for the positive review, we are glad to know you enjoyed your round.
We look forward in hosting you again soon!
Settlers' Ghost Golf Club
Played On 07/01/2019Great Canada Day!
Played this course with a friend of mine from out west. This course is very similar to the ones we grew up playing on the prairies. The Starter was very informative and mentioned to avoid hitting the ball left, I ended up doing just that!
The course was in great shape, fairways were fresh and the greens rolled true. On course staff were friendly and inviting. The clubhouse, pro shop, and range were very basic, but it was fine with me. I came for the course experience.
Overall, Settler’s Ghost is great value for the price of $89 for two golfers.
Cardinal Golf Club - East
Played On 06/28/2019First time at Cardinal
I have been looking forward to playing one of Cardinal’s four courses for quite sometime. I played the round with my girlfriend at one of the early morning tee times.
Initially when I booked I thought we’d be playing alone. However, the Starter group us with another couple. The couple were great but the pace of pay was slower due to being 4 people.
The days start times were pretty messed up! It seems that everyone was given the same tee time and were paired up! Or we were all put into a queue. Either way our round lasted longer than expected, and we weren’t able to finish the last 4 holes.
Next time I book I’ll be very aware of the possible changes.
Turnberry Golf Club
Played On 06/21/2019A little links!
Played Turnberry for the first and the course was amazing. For a small executive course designed to be challenging, the glove most certainly fit. The course, facility, staff, and restaurant were great! The only issue I had with the spot was the driving range was closed before we teed off. Pretty annoying!
Annandale Golf and Country Club
Played On 06/07/2019Value For Your Bucks!
Played this course for the first time with the GF. Overall the course is very simple and has a rural vibe. Good value for your dollar ($20 w/ Cart).
Bathurst Glen Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2019Great course to walk and to travel light!
I played this course for the first time with my girlfriend on May 26, 2019 and we enjoyed it! The driving range beside the course is very appropriate.
BraeBen Golf Course - Championship
Played On 05/06/2019A great day for golf!
Playing BraeBen is always a treat and a challenge. However, the greens weren’t in the best shape due to it being early in the season.
Royal Ontario Golf Club
Played On 04/23/2019Rainy day!
The course was okay. Lots of water and mud to deal with. The greens were very slick! This was my first time playing the course and my second time playing a Kaneff owned property (Century Pines Previously...loves it!). For $180 plus taxes for two golfers at this course wasn’t worth the price point! Additionally, pre-round practice range wasn’t even open for the season.
Thanks for the feedback. We will look at better pricing options in the spring next year.
Bradford Highlands Golf Club
Played On 07/23/2018Priced Accordingly!
Drove up from Toronto to play Bradford Highlands today. Overall the course was alright...very average! The greens were in good shape, which was nice! But the Tee Off boxes were a bit dry and need some TLC. The fairways were okay, but the course wasn’t too manicured overall. For a discount price of $64.00 for two players, this course was a very honest deal!!
Copetown Woods Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2017Great course...GREAT VALUE
Playing a full 18 holes at Copetown Woods was great experience! I decided to give this course a try after visiting the clubhouse for a business meeting a few years ago. Additionally, I was scheduled to play in charity golf tournament at an adjacent course the same day. So I booked the first tee off time (7:04 am) of the day. Although the Hamilton area had experienced a lot of rain overnight, the course itself was in good shape. Sure the grass on some fairways were a bit damp and the greens were a bit slower/ harder to read due the wetness. Overall this course is definitely an emerald gem with its wasteland bunkers. One thing I found interesting is that Holes 2 and 18 share the same green. Albeit that each pin is located on opposite slopes. Definitely a unique trait. For those who play golf for the challenge, scenery, and who appreciate the art of course design? This is a 100% your type of course to play!
Donoservice we appreciate your feedback. We take pride in our course and our service so thank you again.
