Good quality golf course with a nice layout.

This golf course can be challenging. Depending on the tees you play it can play very long but still modest from the whites. There are plenty of hazards that you can find, but the fairways are pretty generous on most holes. The greens are a good size and can play very fast in the summer, but still roll really well in the winter. I recently played a winter round and was surprised in how nice the course condition was. This course can be pretty expensive to play, but on a hot deal it's 100 percent worth it. Range balls, practice area, putting greens allow for a great warmup to the round. Each golf cart has a gps and course layout. The staff is very accommodating and the clubhouse is really nice. I would recommend this course to anyone, it's a good experience all the way through.

Good course for a good price

The staff is friendly, and the course has an interesting layout. Being out of position on this course can provide for plenty of hazards and out of bounds challenges. There are some water hazards to navigate, and some of the greens have some slope that can cause for some tricky putting. The course isn't all that long, but it can be a nice challenge. It's a fun course to play, and is also good if you like to walk. I just played it in the November, and the course does a good job keeping the greens in good shape and clear of leaves.

Cold day but hot deal

Was in the area on a cold November Sunday. Ordered up a 12 dollar hot deal which was for 18 holes with a cart. I wasn't sure how many I wanted to play so only paying 12 bucks made it a great value to squeeze in some golf. I have played this course a few times. The layout is nice, has some tough holes but if you keep it in play it's generally pretty adorable. The greens had small reeds all over them, and surprisingly it didn't impact the line of the putts as bad as I thought. It's a decent track as long as you can fetch a good price. Generally though this course is over priced during peak season for what it is. As long as it's in good condition it can make for a good round.

First time Play

I played Linfield National for the first time on a Sunday afternoon using a Golfnow hotdeal for 18 bucks. This is a good course to play particularly if you can get that price. The regular tee time rates I think would over price the course, particularly given its current condition. The greens were air rated on the day that I played. Putts were makeable even given quite a few jumps on the ball. A smooth flat surface would yield quite a challenge given some of the undulations on the greens. The bunkers were ok, a bit stony but I got the ball out fine on both occasions. The fairways can be a bit tight on some holes and the dog leg holes have extreme left to right or right to left turns. The course is not all that long, I recommend playing from the blue tees for a decent challenge. My only gripe would be the pace of play was terrible. With no ranger and or starter it got jammed up. Part of the problem is some of the golfers who are very recreational didn't necessarily understand the etiquette, such as letting people play thru for a smaller group or single. There was also a group all playing cart path only on a day where there was no such ruling. Walking to the ball, then walking back to the cart to select a club, sometimes changing their mind. We have all experienced it before, and not the courses fault but a ranger can manage this somewhat. Overall the setting of the course near limerick power plant is a cool backdrop. The clubhouse seemed nice, so if you get a deal this place can be a convenient local place to hit.

u0000007429294,

We are sad to see this review only yielded 3-stars. All golf courses, including Augusta National, must aerate their greens (usually twice a year, spring and fall). What this does it allows the soil temperature to rise yielding greater growth. It provides the roots with a healthier and quicker path to new dirt. We lowered our rates to counteract this maintenance and we found golfers still found value. We can assure you the turf is healing nicely and we are ahead of schedule with recovery! We are glad you found the backdrop of the course to be nice and we hope you can come back soon to experience Linfield National in its mid-summer form. We can assure you the turf is healing nicely and we are ahead of schedule with recovery!

Best,
Linfield National Management

Good close course near Philly

I played Riverwinds once before in a tournament and it stuck with me as a new favorite. For a December cold day and the first hot deal I ad seen on Golfnow at 18 bucks made the value that much better. 45 normally at this time of year, which still isn't all that bad. The course was in great shape. A bit wet due to some recent rain, but overall it played just fine. The layout of this course can play long from the white and blue tees, particularly with cold winter winds coming off the river makes for that much more of a challenge. The greens are sizable and fast. The breaks can be tough to judge and the course doesn't give it to you unless you hit the center of the cup. The bunkers played great, a few had standing water and were being fixed up but that didn't cause a problem. Definitely a course to take a cart, or else the walk will be pretty long. there are some good views of the river and city front, but it would be nice if more trees were removed to enhance those views and elevate the experience. I like this course a lot and will definitely be back for continued play. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Reading CC is a good choice any day

Being a formal local to the Reading PA area this course has been one of my favorites for years. Living more towards Philly, I don't get the chance to play it as often these days. Found a hot deal for 14 bucks, got there early and the starter was able to get me out an hour earlier than my tee time. A nice accommodation for the winter when daylight is a factor. The course was in excellent shape. The greens were smooth and fast. The course has a lot of character with trees and hills that can make quite a challenge. It's not the longest course out there but long enough if playing from the back tees. Not being in the fairway can be very punishing as you can get blocked out easily. In the summer months they keep the rough a lot thicker which makes it even more punishing. The greens can be fair or impossible depending on the pin positions. Playing in mid December on a Friday the pins were set at places like a tournament would be arranged. Making some close shots above the pin impossible to keep close. This would of been my only complaint of the day but still it's a challenge nonetheless. The clubhouse is undergoing construction based on new ownership for the restaurant. Should be nice when all finished up.

For a hot deal and close to philly its an option

This golf course is conveniently close to Philly and good for a hot deal. The regular rates would make this course not the best deal. The layout is kind of boring, each hole looks like the other. Some of the tee boxes and fairways are so close together it makes for a bit of confusion. It was my first time playing the course, and for me it was probably a once and done unless there is another good hotdeal and its convenient location. The course staff was very friendly and accommodating. The course was also well manicured and in great shape for a late November round. Greens were smooth and responsive. Overall a quality golf course but lacking some character.

Great track

Deerfield is a course I played once before in a tournament from the league I participate in. That was two years ago and it left a great memory that I have been promoting this course ever since and recently just got back to play it again. The course was in great shape for November. I played on a cold windy Saturday so lots of wooded debris was blowing on the greens which added some time to brush some of it away. Beyond the debris, the greens rolled true, and can prove challenging with the varying undulations you get to experience. The layout is great with a lot of rolling elevated tee boxes and greens to make it and interesting elevation change for the player. The facilities look great, the staff is extremely friendly. The driving range is grass not mats so that's a plus. Got jammed up a bit with one foursome that held up to other foursomes and myself as a single, there wasn't an ability to play through that many groups. At the end of the day, it was another good experience at deerfield.

Nice track in good condition

I have played Ravens Claw before in my golf league and remembered that I liked the layout. I saw a 20 dollar fall hot deal on Golf Now and took advantage. The regular rates even into November were running around $50 bucks, so the value.to me is a bit questionable, but the course is in excellent shape and the staff is friendly. This course is typically very busy and pace of play can be quite slow. I booked as a single and got grouped up with 3 others. Good news was the starter was able to get my out earlier than my tee time which I appreciated. The greens rolled nice, and there were some challenging pin placements. I found a few bunkers and the sand was perfect, not too deep or soft and also not too hard. They played very honest all things considered. Overall I still like this course, its convenient to the local Philly market and definitely one of the better kept public courses in the area, with a nice layout to offer. Just be warned that due to this courses popularity, pace of play and tee time options can be a factor even late into the year.

first time playing

I took advantage of a hot deal off golfnow. This created a great value for 18 holes of golf with a cart. 14 bucks for a Friday in October. I played the white tees which made the course a bit short for me. The blue tees didn't look too much further back from the white, but I should of played the backs. The course does have some challenges, bunkers being the most prominent. The starter in the club house told me to stay out of those and he wasn't kidding. Sand was soft but very thin as far as how much was in the bunker. The greens were in good shape and would putt true. Some of the undulations and pin positions made for a challenging read and downhill puts were fast. I had my ball out of position a few times due to my first time being on the course. Overall it was a good experience and I will definitely be back if I can score another deal and due to its convenient location for me. I'm a 7 handicap and will be back to try and score a bit better the next time.

Tricky course with great character

Chapel Hill is always a nice experience. I enjoyed playing there years ago and took a day off to go back and give it another go. The course is as I remember it, challenging. There are some tight holes, tricky green reads, and plenty of hazards that can prove to be a challenge to avoid. The course isn't too long so it opens up to a wide range of golfers. Play the blue tees to be a bit over 6 thousand yards and it makes for a few lengthy holes. Playing the course in October with fresh cut greens proved to be hard to hold when hitting high approach shots in. The greens did putt nicely with some tricky pin placements and breaks that can be a challenge to gauge. Overall the course is very scoreable, but can creep up on you if you find yourself out of position on particular holes. Great value for the money as the course has a nice layout.
