Highland Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2014Worth the drive.
This course was in very good condition with nice fairways (shame I didn't get to play off many of them.) and greens in good condition with very few pitch marks to be seen. There was only one bad green on the course and it was explained to me that it had frost damage and was under repair before I started my round.
The staff are very friendly and willing to see that you are happy as best they can during your round. Food and drink facilities are very nice with a fully stocked bar to drown your sorrows after a bad round.
Groesbeck Golf Course
Played On 05/01/2014Possible the best municipal course around.
I have to say that if you are looking for a pro shop full to bursting with all the newest stuff then this club is not for you.
The course on the other hand has to be one of the best in the area, It is well maintained and not just by the staff. While playing I couldn't help notice the lack of pitch marks on the greens that seem to be left by players on some of the more expensive courses in the area.
I started my round before 10am on a weekday which got me the early bird special of 18 holes for $18 including cart fee. For this price there really is not a better course around here.
Ledge Meadows Golf Course

While this was a nice course the fairways could really do with a bit of a trim. It was like hitting out of semi rough on some of the holes as the had grown out that long.
Also every green has two holes on it. One regulation size and one over size. I like this idea as it can bring more novices to the game but depending on your approach shot the bigger hole can sometimes be between you and the regulation pin. (Not on many holes but I had this problem on the first hole.)
Be prepared for wind too. It is a rather open course and the wind blows quite hard out there being so open.
