Nice old school course. Hilly layout, lots of target shots. Almost Pete Dye like. Not long but a few holes take driver. Greens are fantastic, roll true and very smooth. Holes cut tight so you need to get center cut each putt. Fairways ok, rough not too thick. Tee boxes are nice. Sand traps are immaculate but sand is heavy. Only goofiness is teeing off the first, 10 and 13 holes - they are right next to the hotel restaurant so expect distractions. Always music, noise and kids running around. Def first for me - lots of carts with spa guests rolling around too. Definitely play - well worth it.
Lake Chabot Golf Course - The 18 Hole Course
Played On 6/12/2013Must play to believe
This course is crazy. If you want something that is completely different, play it. Everything is either severely uphill or downhill. It's as if the put a golf course on a ski area with no lifts. Greens are nice, well maintained. They are soft, so plan to putt firm. A bit spongy. Fairways are pretty good shape, and the rough is not too long. Above average muni there. Local knowledge is key - try and play with a local.
Alister MacKenzie at Haggin Oaks Golf Course

This course is great to play if you are just coming off playing a hard, target golf track. Flat, easy birdie friendly track for bombing. And that's not a bad thing. Nice people pretty nice conditions. Tee boxes are beat up, but fairways are nice, virtually no rough and the greens are pure and kept up, but a bit slow - flat with a few subtle breaks. Crazy facility, it's a mall for golf.
