Played On 10/30/2020Beautiful Greens...Friendly Staff
Since the weather dropped to a beautiful 74° dozens and dozens of people came out and jammed up the Tee sheet so since I was playing as a single they were nice enough to work with me and I ended up playing with the starter, Tony, a few hours later. We had a great time, although the pace was a little slower than normal he said. Fairways weren’t that green but that’s typical of Florida courses, but still very good. But the greens were in excellent shape although fast. Overall, great value $30 with a cart. Good Italian restaurant as well.

Played On 07/15/2020No starter = no rules
Pros: nice layout (only got to see front 9), water / lakes add character to the course. Also it’s the only flat course in the area.
Cons: I checked in early at 2:15 PM for a 3 PM round and the young kid in the pro shop told me that the starter had left for the day, I already voiced my concerns about the timing/pace of play, and sure enough when we came around the turn, for groups on the back nine Tee-box. Same young kid in the pro shop, I told him this is what I was concerned about what are we supposed to do now my friend and I had to leave and couldn’t even finish our round also the bar had closed already, simple common sense, if you have this many people on a Wednesday looking to play golf after 4:30 PM, leave the bar open and you can make thousands of dollars throughout the year, furthermore there was no sign of any management or professional workers there other than the young girl at the bar and the young guy at the pro shop all texting their brains out, horribly run course. If the airport decides to bulldoze this place down it will be a shame but clearly they do not care about their guests. I’m hoping they’ll give me a discount / free round because logistically / course wise, it seems to be worth the money if you get a hot deal. Greens were in good shape but many ball marks not repaired. Fairways were average.

Played On 06/03/2020Greens in Nice shape....
Played a few days after heavy rain but the course was in good shape. Not much water in unwanted areas now that we’re approaching summer, unlike the last time I played here ,twice in 5 days back in early May. Greens were in great shape, no puddles in bunkers / better maintained course. Even tho it was ladies day (Wednesday), and the North Course was off limits, the pace of play was good, finished in under 4 hours. Price was well worth it, about $38 on golf now. Cheap beer at then turn, nice electric carts, 30 min from Asheville, well worth the deal for under $40, as prices have gone up around the area.

Played On 03/28/2020Spring 2020 Update
Haven’t played here since last summer. New Pro shop / cart area is now closer to parking lot for added convenience. Since it was late March, still no water on course or bunkers raked, not sure if staff hours have been cut do to Corona Virus, but I’d like to see bunkers raked on a Saturday, at least. New carts with gps were nice. New home construction / lot clearing along hole no. 11 is still in process. New lot clearing behind the green on hole no. 15 looks new. Other than that, same old Cummings Cove, no starter / rangers, barely friendly pro shop staff, $42 on a Saturday is fine, but wait for a hot deal during the week for maximum value.

Played On 11/18/2019A Hot Deal Bargain
Writing this review about 6 weeks after the round but as always, if you get a hot deal for under $40, it’s always worth it. New greens on back nine have settled in nicely / no complaints. There was a frost delay but even after 20 minute delay, the ‘members’ aka locals, I believe, maybe there are actual members, I forgot, but they flew around and didn’t hold us up. Front nine has some interesting holes but mainly flat with a lot of flowing creeks to be aware of. Back nine is much more hilly. Overall, quality course with decent restaurant, driving range is literally a quarter mile up a hill, but again, book a hot deal for under $40 for maximum value. 35-45 min from Asheville, I’ll play it 3-4 times a year. No rangers or starters but I’ve never had a pace of play issue.
Connestee Falls Golf Course
Played On 04/27/2019Nice course, good shape
No starter / ranger on a Saturday never makes sense to me so we waited on almost every hole on the front. Based on the regular pricing and the recent reviews, I expected a little nicer greens. They were in good shape, just had that blotchy different shades of green look / fairways weren’t as lush but then again it’s still late April and mountainous terrain. Would play again but it’s a solid 1 hour drive from Asheville. $33 for a hot deal on a Saturday was a great value. Lots of deer on the course was fun to see. Electric carts with gps is a plus considering there weren’t many distance markers on sprinkler heads. Wait for a hot deal on this course.

Played On 02/04/2019Winter Construction FYI
I play here about 4-6 times per year. Typical winter conditions right now, yellow fairways, average greens, no water coolers etc. BUT there is major construction happening by hole 11, loud machinery clearing lots for new homes as well as other home repairs happening along some holes in addition to roosters and other typical noise. Also a new pro shop Ian being built / restaurant closed so bring water and food for the next few months. They are hoping to be done by April but most likely sometime in May.
Overall it’s still one of the best mountain courses within 45 min of Asheville along with Maggie Valley when you book hot deals. Also, there is never any rangers so be aware during busy times. There are many locals / members with there own custom golf carts who are typically friendly nice.

Played On 11/06/2019Spectacular As Always
Not that this hidden gem needs anymore 5 star reviews but I love this place so much. Greens are always in great shape. Pace of play, even without a ranger / starter, is typically smooth. The leaves were blown off the course to the best off their abilities. The new bar / food menu has plenty of great options and priced fairly. A hot deal below $30 is always a steal. I drive 50-55 min from Asheville about 3-4 times a year and it’s always worth it. Electric carts are always clean and charged up.

Played On 04/10/2019Very Nice Greens, Fairways Will Be Green Soon
I drive 55 min from Asheville to play here a few times a year, especially when I book a $12 plus fees ‘hot deal’. The greens have been superb for the last couple years. They were in fantastic shape today. The fairways weren’t that green yet and had some ‘lettuce patches’ of busy green grass in some spots but overall the fairways were fine. There was a middle or high school shotgun practice or outing which slowed the pace a bit, but still played a 4 hour round. Gorgeous 74 degree, pure blue sky day (4/10/19 - 1:50pm-6pm). The new small bar / kitchen with expanded menu is now open, prices are good. The course is not that easy, with the elevation change and some drives over water, but still very playable. I highly recommend this course and can’t wait to come back in a month or two. The spring time tree blossoms and flowing creeks added to the beauty of the course / day.

Played On 03/30/2019Great greens, good fairways....
Booked a tee time as a single, showed up early in hopes to be paired with a group that knew the course, the staff did pair me with a local resident group of seniors around 80 years old, which definitely helped although I didn’t get to warm up at all and played terribly. Would’ve like some lusher / greener fairways but they were adequate. Greens were as advertised, very good. No ball washers on course but clean bathrooms / plenty of water. The course / layout was unique in that it’s a rare par 66. I didn’t realize the blue tees were closer than the whites until a few holes, I’d probably opt for the whites next time, but either way I’d like my revenge on this course and would definately reccommend / play again. For a Saturday with beautiful conditions (75 degrees, partly sunny / light breeze), the pace of play was perfect, playerd in 3 hours 50 minutes. Plenty of homes / noise around the course including a nearby gun range takes away from the peaceful factor but the course was very well taken care of, very good sand in the traps and manicured areas between holes.

Played On 12/02/2018Good Shape For Early December
I’ve played here a few times over the last two years, most recently was Feb. 2018, so kind of interesting to start and end the golf year at Maggie. Anyway, course was on the wet side do to rain yesterday, but course was green and in very good shape for the time of year minus a few trouble spots in fairways and two temporary greens, which I’m ok with because that means they care about repairing greens / upgrading course conditions. For the last ‘spring like’ day of the year, 65° and sunny yet very windy, the course wasn’t packed with people so the lack of a ranger and starter was not a factor. For a Sunday, a $36 hot deal for a 12:20 time was a very good deal. Although I don’t think the course is worthy of paying more than $40 on a weekday / $45 on weekends, but if you can score a hot deal for under $40 for this course, it’s absolutly worth it. Sadly, we could not find a number of our drives after watching where they landed rather closely, kind of a mystery, since they actually did a great job of removing remaining leaves and debris off of the course. Younger guy working the pro shop gave me a free bucket of balls, but the new range is about a quarter-mile up the mountain residential street. I look forward to playing here next spring!!

Played On 10/05/2018Honest review - Please read
I’m going to try and keep this short. After reading reviews for the last month or 2 I finally played here. This course will be a hidden gem in about a year or two if the new owners keep sinking money into it. The restaurant / patio area has great character as does the entire course. Mature trees, partial mountain views and plenty of flowing streams add to the beauty of the course. There’s one gorgeous Mountain View on hole 7 I believe, the pine tree needs to be taken down for the full view. The ‘mountain’ 9 holes are not that hilly at all. Most fairways are flat enough for the average golfer. Large greens throughout the course help you reach in regulation. The “spasm” hole is tough, I fought hard for a double bogey.
Staff was super friendly and was lucky to pair up with an employee and a member to help me on the front nine (holes 10-18). Greens were in great shape which is more important than anything. Yes, the fairways and bunkers need some love but it will come. Ignore the trouble spots and any negative reviews. For a $26.50 hot deal, it’s well worth the 40 min drive from Asheville. Highly recommend this course. Be part of the resurrection by supporting the course now and you’ll appreciate it when it starts looking great.
P.S. Cart paths were in better condition than some other reviews stated and water stations need to be added ASAP.

Played On 06/06/2018Greens need serious help
Sadly this course was not in the ‘good shape’ I was told over the phone. Almost every green had large grey ‘problem areas’ in dire need of repair, regrowth or replacement altogether. I was looking forward to playing here since it was my first time, but when greens are in that poor of shape, it changes everything. Fairways, course layout, friendliness of staff were all fine and since it was a 90 degree mid week day, we flew around in 3.5 hours.
They should get help from the new greens keeper that Cleghorn Plantation took on last year who made their greens spectacular. If you can get a hot deal on cleghorn for under $25 with fees, that’s a great option or Cummings Cove in Hendersonville.
I would definitely play here again if the greens get fixed. There were some nice character holes and water adds to the character. Some bunkers were in awful shape and some had different color / quality of sand.

New greens keeper and it shows! My friend and I couldn’t stop praising these greens. An absolute hidden gem 50 min from Asheville. Golf now deals are well worth it. Got a Saturday 12:20 tee time for $23.50 after fees. I’ll be here multiple times in the next 6 weeks for even less money most likely. Course was green and pristine.
