the drive leading to the gated entrance is breath taking.
Once I got to the first hole with a view of the cliffs and Atlantic Ocean I couldn't wipe the smile off my face!
even though my round started off terribly the surrounding beauty made seem so insignificant.
I pulled my game together enough not to hate myself after the round. I was using the rental clubs provided, very nice set of titleist AP2's including a Cameron putter. no too shabby for a rental set!
but I immediately missed my bag :(
I had beautiful weather aside from a hole and a half of a quick moving rain storm. the course was in fantastic shape. staff was very friendly.
I have played several of Bandon Dunes offerings and this is just a little more amazing in my opinion, Haven't had the chance to play pebble yet and I'm guessing that for the money Old Head is still the champ!

i grew up playing this course. my family had been members here for 21 years. i played monday in a scramble tournament which was the second time i played oakhurst in the past few months. It was an extremely windy day (not typical). course was in relatively good shape, a few dead areas on the fairways and a couple of ground under repair areas. these did not affect my play at all. greens rolled real quick but felt true. oakhurst has always been a challenging track to me and i think most people would agree. the 18th hole is hands down one the best finishing holes in california. if you get an invite to check out Oakhurst jump on it!

I recently had the pleasure of playing a round here as a guest of a member. Looks like the club house bar and restaurant area had a recent remodel. Big pro shop that was fully stocked. Course was in great shape despite the rainy day prior to the round and the greens had been aerated about a week or so earlier. Man this course isnt very long 6500 from the tips but if youre not in the middle of the fairway off the tee you will be blocked by trees, trees and more trees. Plus it seemed like most greens are surrounded by bunkers. You definitely get punished for errant shots. Id like to play it again now uderstanding how to attack this course.

Rough needs to be trimmed... our group lost a few balls off the tee that should have been found just a few paces off the fairways. Even switching to a High Vis ball mid round still proved difficult to locate. i have a feeling that the grounds crew are going to be chewing up a bunch of balls in their mowers!
