Below Expectations

I was disappointed at playing Shoreline. The only thing positive was the parking lot had solar panels to keep your car cool. The course still has great potential but they have let the holes dry out. Some of the bunkers have dirt and some have sand which is annoying as a golfer.

I was also upset that the staff let a public golfer join our group without our consent. This happen in the middle of our round by the way.

I think there just has to be improved maintenance on the course. Lots of dead grass and the greens are beaten up. Hopefully, the course does get some love and care or maybe a renovation.

Solid Layout, just minor tweaks

The golf course is in immaculate shape. However, the fairways were fast and the greens were slow. I would rather have a consistent layout in terms of making the course better for the golfers. Overall, it was a solid challenge and I would not mind playing here again. But, the winds make this course tricky since it is not the same wind direction on every hole.

Amazing Round

I heard of all the hype surrounding Pacific Grove Golf Links and the hype was worth it. I never played the back nine and it truly felt I was up the road at Spanish Bay or Pebble. It is a timeless classic that I would recommend to all of my friends and I loved the narrow fairways because most kids want to bomb the course but here at PG you need to hit fairways. This was a 10/10 by far and it is a must play golf course for your Pebble Beach Trip!!

Too hard

Played here for the first time and thought highly of the course. However it is too challenging for a regular amateur player. You could not tell if the flag-stick were in the middle, front or in the back. The yardages in the cart were inaccurate as well.

Overall, the course was too challenging. I would only play there if I got invited. There was ground under repair on tee-boxes. It was a disappointing experience and hopefully it will be changed in the summer.

Fairways need to be cut

The course is shaped very nicely for its location. The price to play here is a bang for your buck as it offers views of Levi's Stadium and the South Bay. However, the fairways should be larger in width but the rough has grown way too much. I think by simply mowing the fairway would entice longer hitters like myself to go for it more. Either way this course, I will definitely play again.

HI,
Thanks for the feedback. I will review the conditions with the Superintendent and see about widening the fairways and trimming back the rough.

We have been aggressively fertilizing to ensure the turf is in good shape was we move into winter and may have gotten a bit too heavy with it.

Thank you for the feedback.

Regards,
General Manager

Greens need a redesign

The only flaw of this course I have are the greens which I once considered to be the best outside of Pebble Beach have now gone to trash. Half of them were still rolling really well. However I found crab grass on some of the greens which is disturbing considering this course for its value I loved. I hope that we can change these beloved greens. Also the cart drive to number two was ugly because all I saw was weeds. Considering Monterey is a top golf destination worldwide, I believe you should put some poppys or sunflowers to freshen the course up at least. Does not take that much money folks. All in all just those improvements and this will become a top notch course to bang your buck.

US Open Tough

Course played like a US Open. Fun layout but the pins were super tough. I would expect easier pin locations for us amateurs. However this course deserves a Web.com Tour event or a Champions Tour event the way it will play for the pros and next year's PGA Professional Championship.

Improved

Although the day I played was foggy and cold, the course stood up to the test. The bunkers have improved with actual sand in the bunkers. However the unfixed divots were noticeable and I believe there needs to be a stricter policy on older players fixing their divots since they clearly want to head to the bar then care about course conditions. All and all a very good experience.

Bunkers are terrible

Other than the beautiful views, the bunkers were not filled with sand, felt like I hit the ball out of cement. Hopefully that is a quick fix for next year's PGA Professional Championship. Other than that really enjoyed the layout and we are not in a drought anymore so you can water the greens to make the course easier.
