Sakima Country Club
Played On 04/01/2018Sakima - Hidden gem
I played this course back in high school a few years ago. While the fairway/rough has always been hit or miss, the greens are usually in very, very good shape. Considering the area the course is in isn't exactly a booming part of Southern New Jersey. If they invested just a little more money into the course, it could be just as good as other 9 hole private courses such as Merchantville.
The course isn't scenic to the eye, but it is very enjoyable, especially the handful of times I was able to play it. Now that I am out of high school, I have not been able to return to this small hidden gem of a course. If you get the opportunity to play the course, I would highly recommend it giving it a chance if you are willing to look past the minuscule imperfections.
Beckett Golf Club
Played On 07/23/2017Beckett
Beckett has been in rough shape the last couple of years. Infected greens, messy fairways, cart paths that are almost unbearable, and plenty of other things that have kept it from being a very nice course. I've heard from people that this course used to be impeccable, but now it seems like its on its last leg. It has a decent layout, with just enough elevation change to add difficulty. The driving range is okay, but not anything special. The clubhouse is... in need of some sort of care. Theres a hole in the ceiling of the pro shop that is leaking water, and is an obvious eye sore, a flagpole that lacks an American Flag, and a putting green that is smaller than my living room carpet. The tall pine trees make the course seem very welcoming on arrival, but when the course is in shabby shape, with fairway grass that is sometimes as tall as the rough, it is hard to go back and pay the money to play here. The only thing worth mentioning that exceeds my expectations every time are the employees. They are some of the nicest, understanding people I have ever met. A rare breed of people to say the least when it comes to golf course employees.
Maybe in a year if more money is put into it, we will see drastic improvements, but until that happens, I don't think this course could get any better. But, then again, i don't believe it could get any worse at this point.
It is a shame because the course is in a prime location, where it could easily get a lot of golfers from three different states. (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware.) But in the condition the course is in now, I don't see that happening.
Wedgwood Country Club

I thought it would be worse than it was, but not bad at all. Very interesting, tough layout. Greens have hidden breaks that are a little tough to read, but not overall difficult either. Some greens are a little patchy, but I've played on worse. Fairways were a little bare in some spots, but nothing too bad to keep me from returning.
Also, one of my favorite practice greens in the area. Perfect place to practice your putting before you tee off.
I've played Beckett twice first time I lost 11 bales in the fairway second time I played 3 holes asked for money back everyone hoping it will get better it won't been in shambles for st least 5 years and no improvements have been made drive the extra 15 minutes go to pitman
