Enjoyed it thoroughly! Everything was wonderful-carts, greens, fairways, staff etc. There was even a refreshment cart on the course.
Jekyll Island Golf Club - Oleander Course
Played On 8/23/2013Lovely secluded natural course.
Lovely course in excellent condition! We finished in less than 3 hours since virtually no one was playing mid-day. Only trouble was with cart which failed to engage and move several times during our 18 holes. Deer were everywhere and many fawns were gazing at our play.
Coastal Pines Golf Club
Played On 8/9/2013Wide Open Spaces!
My wife and I really liked this course. Big wide fairways, not a lot of trouble spots, well maintained, friendly staff, slow greens, GPS in every cart, proximity to SSI is good.
Only negative I would say is the number of empty bottles and cans along the cart path-far too many which shows a lack of well bred players and a lazy grounds staff. I picked up over 20 empties within reaching distance of my cart in the first 9 holes- no excuse for rubbish.
Sapelo Hammock Golf Club
Played On 7/7/2013A fun course with excellent greens!
My wife and I played this course on a Golf Now special and really enjoyed it. We were a bit skeptical since it had been closed for some time and the word from our golf friends was that it was in pretty rough shape when it reopened.
Actually the greens were in better shape than both Sea Island’s Seaside course and Sanctuary Cove which we played recently. The fairways weren’t as pristine and groomed as those two but this course is a bit wilder, a lot of fun to play, and challenging!
A few negatives: cart path is more like a goat path so hang on and secure your belongings so your head covers don’t fly away. They don’t have ice anywhere on the course or in the clubhouse so make sure your drinks are iced beforehand. There is water on the course at several locations and it was very cold.
The course is a little confusing the first time you play and signage is scarce but it made it more challenging trying to figure where the hole is and what the distances to the hole were.
We were told they have a new course superintendent and he is obviously doing a great job keeping everything in good shape. We are looking forward to returning.
