Great Suprise

Spur of the moment stop while road tripping back to St. Louis from a work conference. Co-worker and I spent the night and decided to delay our departure until after a "quick round".

This course was extremely nice. Shockingly for the $38.00 I shelled out. At home this course would rank with the $60.00 + courses easily. The layout was entertaining, though some of the yardage markers definitely were misleading. Favors the local who knows some tricks, and while wasn't disappointed with my score in the 90's feel like I could put a solid number on this one the second time around.

Despite being there in the early morning the cart girl came around 3 times during our round, which was nice.

All in all a great round, despite some sogginess, and nice facility overall. If I'm ever in the area again I'll be back.

Nice Muni Type Course for Fun Round

This course isn't going to blow your mind with postcard vistas. It will provide you a good setting to enjoy a day on the course, allowing the intermediate golfer a chance to score, while suitable for all levels.

The bunkers tend to be that famous Missouri clay type...hard pack and like playing off dirt. Other than that, the course is in respectable shape. Greens are generally large and receptive. Don't go crazy with your stimpmeter ratings, it rained the night before my round and greens were in great shape for a county run public. You can use most clubs in your bag and accurate shots get you a lot of birdie or par opportunities.

It's no "country club" experience but for <$40 always it's a great option.

FYI, try the egg n cheese sandwich for early rounds. $2.00 was never spent so well.

One of the Best

This course is immaculate, with a very upscale feel.
Played the Meremac and Woodlands courses. Really liked the Meremac's setup, but scored better on the Woodlands. Lost a few normally findable balls with the leaves coming down this time of year, but all in all a great day on the course!

Can't wait to go back in when the fairways are green!

Great Course that forces good aim and club selection

I had stayed away from this course the previous two seasons due to the bad reviews regarding course condition. Having seen an uptick in positive reviews some friends and I decided to give it a whirl, what with it only being $25 on golfnow, and what a pleasant surprise!

Well maintained, nice greens, with lots of undulation. Have to be smart, which is difficult with my TinCup mentality, and really forces you to play honest golf.

Seems like it s always $30> so we plan on making this a regular in the rotation from now on!

Favorite Course in the Area

This, Annbriar and Tapawingo are the top three publics in the area, hands down, though not necessarily in that order.

I really enjoy playing the Bluffs. First year I felt good enough to play it. Got out there 3 times and every time I enjoy it more.

The signature Par 5 with the bluff tee box is awesome! Love watching my drive fly for what seems like an hour!

Any time I see this course on golf now for $55 or less I start to salivate...

Top 3 Public in Area

This course is awesome. Even better, I got a steal on Golfnow for our foursome!

Right up there with Tapawingo and Missouri Bluffs in quality/conditions you definitely be challenged while having a great day on the course!

Its a bit of drive out of St. Louis, but well worth it!

One of the Best in the Area

This course is always challenging for me. As a 20 Handicap it the constant threat of bunkers, particularly greenside can really derail an otherwise good round.

Course conditions are always some of the best around, though rain can make a few holes pretty soft as the course has several low areas as it winds through hills and creek beds.

All in all a great course, and if you get a tee time on golf now for $44 bucks on a Saturday Morning it can't be beat!

Bring Balls...lots of them!

This course is great and quite a value with a golf now tee time!

Water is everywhere, and maybe its just that being from the Midwest I'm not used to quite so much, but if you're loose off the tee you're going to go through some balls!

Greens were in immaculate condition...once I got there!

Fun course, Improved under University ownership

This course, formerly locust hills, has seen some quality improvement in course conditions since McKendree University bought it. Its short, but the number of doglegs make you think about a lot of shots. Greens were in really nice shape. Cart paths still need some attention, and a handful of tee boxes were uneven, but all in all a good course to play a well paced round with an opportunity to put a feel good number on the card!

Looking good unde Walters Golf Management

This course is one of the first I ever played after taking up golf 2.5 years ago. I'm really glad to see that it's join the Walters' family of courses. It needed management that really knows how keep a course through the harsh summer in the STL.

Fairways and greens were in great shape when I played for the first time this year. Look forward to playing this one many more times throughout the season with early to mid afternoon tee times <$26 on golfnow!

Great Course Close to Downtown

As my friends and I primarily live in the downtown loft area and nearby neighborhoods this course is a mainstay in our circuit.

Top tier course for the area with only a few minute drive can't be beat! Top that off with good views of the STL skyline and this course has ideal location to go with its excellent conditions and management.

Fun Course

This course is quite nice, easily in the top 10 publics around STL.

The opening hole is an enticing short par 5 that can either get your round started right or kill it early if you get greedy/stupid. Because you tee off right in front of the clubhouse/ practice swing you tend to want to showboat a bit, which will get you in trouble!

This course isn't overly difficult and doesn't have all the cute bunkers down the way at Stonewolf, but its fun, challenging while still allowing scoring opportunities for the average golfer.

I highly recommend!

Great course, great locale

This is 9 of 27 holes at the Courses of Forest Park, and of the 3 9ers this one is my least favorite, though still a good play.

Its a pretty flat, straightforward course, and if you keep it in the fairway you'll be feeling great about your game at the end. They try to keep it entertaining with some well positioned fairway bunkers and mounding/elevation around some of the greens. #9, a par 3 over water (only water on this 9 holes) can kill an otherwise good round! Stay dry and have fun on this one.

Excellent couorse in the middle of it all

Great Course, 9 of 27 at Courses of Forest Park.

Hole #1 hits from an elevated tee, which always gets you pumped!

Always in great condition, this 9 holes has great topography, and hole #4 is one of my favorites around. Play this course before work whenever I can! Not the longest course for sure, but a great fun play with impeccable course conditions, excellent location/surroundings and golfnow weekday pricing that is always a great deal.

This is a great little 9 hole Muni course. I've played here a bunch when I'm looking to get a quick nine in. They re-did the cart paths and really have improved the conditions overall since last year.

I usually get out before work and can walk this course in an hour and a half, and for $8 from GolfNow its a great deal!

One of the best courses in the area!

We tried to sneak a round in on a day the area was supposed to be drenched in rain. The weather cooperated and just misted on us, which was fortunate given that everywhere else got a half inch of rain! Despite the weather the course was in immaculate shape, and greens perfect. There had been rain the night before and mist all day, but still hard and tight. The putts weren't breaking due to the moisture, but I can't wait to get back out there. Only weird thing was that with the clouds/mist it was fairly dark at 730pm when we finished, and found only a kid putting carts away for us and some other stragglers (clubhouse closed). Out front as we put our clubs in the car some park employees (not golfcourse-its located in the park) complained heavily that we should have left an hour ago since the park closes at dusk. Not our fault that 1) The clouds made it darker than it really was 2) Had it been nice conditions they would ahve still been there for another hour 3) No golf course employee mentioned it at all. Thought it was pretty unprofessional (again for the PARK employees, not golfcourse staff).

Like the course but Greens are brutal right now.

I really like this course in general. Makes you use a lot of clubs, great set of par 3s. 18 is one of my favorite holes around, great finishing hole.

This time out 2 of our foursome had never been and after extolling the virtues of the course we found that almost every green on the course had been aerated and resembled sandtraps more than greens. Brutal, when for the same money on golfnow we could ahve gone to several other courses.

Anyone else find it ironic that a golfcourse owned by the pipefitters union doesnt have an irrigation system? I think this is why the greens needed repair after last summer's drought,
