Best course I’ve played in Orlando

Played here this morning. From the time I arrived I was treated like royalty. Driving range was in great shape. Everyone I’ve talked to has said Orlando has been pounded with rain. I played Orange County National Monday and Waldorf today. Waldorf-Astoria’s conditions right now are awesome. Better then Orange County. Played the back tees shot even par. Back side my driving got a little away from me and I shot 5 over for a total of 77. I’m a 6-7 handicap. Loved the course layout. Greens were consistent. Fairways in spots were a little wet. You won’t get much roll in fairways in spots. . Overall I can’t wait to come back and play here. After the round the guys meet you with ice cold towel and washed your clubs.

Crooked Cat Review

I set up tee times to play 36. Crooked Cat first then Panther Lake. My overall thoughts of both courses is that Crooked Cats layout was nicer track.

We were the first ones out that morning and you know you are going to get the morning dew wetness on the greens and grass clippings, plus from aeration they still had some sand. Putting was a little tough, Not horrible but I was able to putt much better on Panther Lake later in the day that has far less sand and rolled out better. All sand bunkers that I unfortunately got in had good amount of sand and were consistent. Both courses after playing Waldorf Astoria, were in a little rougher shape. Waldorf-Astoria’s conditions were incredible. OCs fairways were patchy in some spots, they have had a lot of rain so zero roll in the fairways off the tee. Tee boxes were a little rough also being patchy. You can see from some of the photos. I played the back tees. Shot 84 on Crooked Cat, 79 on Panther Lake. I’m a single digit handicap if they helps. These courses are definitely long from the tips especially when you get zero roll off the tee. A few 3 putts on the first 18.

My overall review of Orange County National is that it’s an excellent course. The layouts are great. Definitely recommend playing if you are in Orlando. Course conditions after playing Waldorf were a little rough but definitely worth playing. I would love to come back and play it when it’s in top end shape. But definitely one you have to try out. Tony in the pro shop was very friendly and accommodating. He even let myself and my brother in-law after playing the first 18 take separate carts to beat the rain.
