Great Overall Experience

This was the first time 4 women played this course. We were in the Phoenix/Scottdale for a 5-day golf holiday. We were greeted with smiley, friendly staff at the bag drop area. And this continued all the way through 18 holes and lunch.

The course was in good shape with green, vibrant fairways with brown short (easy to get out of) grass rough. There was a frost delay but we were able to get out at our tee time (10:15). The pace was good and appreciated the beverage cart person speaking to the group in front of about keeping pace.

The food at the restaurant was good and the waiter on top of drinks, etc. Would recommend and play again.

Customer Service Fails

4 Women played this course for the first time on a 5 day golf trip in Phoenix. We were met with unfriendly, curt service from start to finish. The staff at the front desk was matter of fact and unwelcoming. The cart staff (5 people just standing around) directed us to the wrong path to #1 tee. They said a starter would be there. When we got to the first tee there was no one around. We noticed that we did not have scorecards and went back to the cart area and were told that the cards were at the starting area under the umbrella. Since we had been directed to the wrong path there was no umbrella. We were treated as this was our fault. Once at starting area, we were "man-splained" how to find the forward tees. We all felt that this was not a "women welcoming" course. Did not see another woman golfer during the day. When we mentioned the rude service to the beverage cart women, she apologized and offered free drinks. She was very kind to us. Yes, women only make up 25% of golf participants but contribute billions of dollars to the global golf economy. With participation of golf decreasing, customer service is imperative to keeping golfers returning. We played 4 other courses in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and encountered top notch service from each and every course. We will not return or recommend Talking Stick to fellow golfers - men or women.
