The Club at Pine Forest
Played On 03/23/2021Slowest, bumpiest greens I have seen in years!
Decent layout, but horrific greens. Slow and bumpy. Not worth the money — even on the “Hot Deal”.
Quail Ridge Country Club
Played On 10/28/2020Undulating tee boxes
Undulations can make a golf course more interesting and challenging, and this course has its share (the green on #1 especially!). Undulating tee boxes, on the other hand, are simply annoying. This seems like an easy fix, if they cared to do so. Otherwise, a pretty straight forward course with wide fairways.
Larkhaven Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2018Had not played here in nearly a decade. Will be at least that long before I do again.
When I played this course the first time (about 10 years ago), I found it to be an interesting layout in pretty good condition, but with greens that were almost unplayably slow because, as I was informed in the clubhouse, "the members like it that way." I did not go back for nearly a decade, but finally gave it another try.
What I found was a course that was exactly the opposite in every respect: the greens were firm and fast, but the rest of the course was in miserable condition, with bare tee boxes, burned out fairways and a pace of play which was awful.
Emerald Lake Golf Club
Played On 9/7/2013Sub par condition 9/7/13
Normally one of my favorite courses. Their usually well-maintained greens were in poor shape, tee boxes were shaggy, bunkers lacked sand. Generally seems like they just don't care like they used to. Pace of play was unusually slow, and even when we informed the clubhouse we never saw a ranger or any improvement.
I hope they get their act together, as I really like the layout.
