La Contenta Golf Club
Played On 09/13/2017I hope you like hills
The curse is a bargain. Pace of play was under 4.5 hours on all of 4 days this year, the fastest was a 3-some. We played in 3:15. On some of the holes you feel like a mountain goat, others are flat as a pancake. Greens are receptive but fast and tricky. I would not recommend you walk this course unless you are in good shape.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 02/12/2015The Staff were very accomodating
Because I usually play at The Legacy when in Phoenix, the conditions on this course were somewhat disappointing. The greens were rough and had recently been micro-punched. The two nines are completely different in character. The front nine winds through civilization with plenty of houses for the uncontrolled to hit. The back nine goes out into the desert of South Mountain Park and is quite scenic. Most holes have considerable humps, bumps or elevation changes and some have severe side slopes. We played about a week after a heavy rain, but the fairways were still very hard. On the third hole, a par 5, I hit a good drive down the left side of the fairway, only to see it roll clear across the fairway into the lake. For the price, I'll stick to the Legacy from now on.
Lake Padden Golf Course
Played On 10/7/2013Best value I have ever seen
I have been playing Lake Padden for years. The improvements over the last 5 years have made this course a real treat, and the management has been able to keep fees modest. The last time I played here there had been heavy rain early in the morning. By noon the fairways were mostly dry, showing the effects of improved drainage. This is a very player-friendly course, not much sand and only one hole where there is water possibly in play. Very large greens, some with serious slope issues.(I have had putts break 180 degrees!) If you want to play in less than 4 hours, come early.
