Coweta Club at Arbor Springs Plantation
Played On 11/20/2020Shaggy
This course could be really nice if it was maintained better. Several tee boxes had new grass, but not in good shape. A few of the greens had rough/bare spots. The biggest problem was the fairways and first cut needed mowed. Pretty bad when you can't find a ball in the fairway or first cut because the grass needs cut and/or leaves blown away.
Club at Shoal Creek
Played On 07/11/2018Blame it on heat
My only excuse was the heat. Played very bad on the front nine. One of my best rounds on the back nine. As for the course, conditions were pretty good. A couple tee boxes were a bit shaggy and a few greens were in bad shape; dead/deceased spots. Used a $10 promo code for a $10 hot deal and only paid the GolfNow fee.

One of the best courses ever played... Greens were very fast; warp speed. Fairways just cut. The zoysia grass (fairways) was nicer than some greens at other courses. Sand traps were a bit hard (so stay out of them). Cars in the lot, but almost no crowd on the course. Nobody behind, nobody in front. GPS on the carts very accurate. GPS limits carts on steep downhill paths and out of bounds areas. Carts have coolers and ball washers.
The Oaks Course
Played On 06/01/2018Soggy with crew cuts...
After several days of rain, the course was a bit soggy in spots, some overflow of water hazards, and a few cart path only holes. May have been the first day that week the crews could get out to cut roughs, fairways, and tee boxes. And the course needed it! Some mowers were kicking up rooster-tails of clippings. Understanding all that, the course was in pretty good shape. We had an early tee time, but a pair with a young boy hopped in front of us, which caused us to wait on several holes. There was a course marshal around, but we have to assume he did not realize they were slowing the pace of play with all their ball searching.
Cotton Fields Golf Club, The
Played On 05/14/2018Should improve in time
This course has been in better shape. At a distance, it looks okay. The greens were recently aerated and sanded making putting difficult and unpredictable. The fairways were pretty good except for a few bare spots; hard to get grass to cooperate under trees and in run-off areas. Tee boxes needed cutting and some fill in. Appears they were purposely not cut.
Played in an afternoon 9-hole scramble... a little warm and humid.
Gave the course conditions a "fair" rating expecting the conditions (greens) to improve. Same for off-course amenities as the staff is limited and the clubhouse locked up by 7:00 PM (?) with several groups still on the course.
Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/11/2018Fund raiser tornament
Played in a fund raising tournament with about 20 four-person teams. Course was in good shape; 17 of 18 greens really good (one had a couple bare/bad spots). As others have noted, no "rest" stops along the way except for one portable facility. Limited water coolers, too. The drink/snack cart was manned by some of the tournament volunteers. Don't know if they have someone out during the week or not. No personal coolers allowed? Lucky or me, my golf bag has an insulated beverage compartment. Fairways and tee boxes in good shape for the most part. Some tee boxes showing signs of wear.
Purposely omitted a price paid for the round as it was a fund raiser and we paid more than the standard rate, but we had door prizes, lunch, trophies, etc. I heard we raised a nice sum of money for the Southern Baptist Network's kid's camp fund.
The Oaks Course
Played On 02/27/2018Practice and Play Not the Same
The course, overall, was in good condition for this time of year. Minimal sand traps, but the few they have are not friendly. Fairways are relatively open with several dog legs here and there. Nice practice areas. But the practice green is not like the greens on the course. On the practice side, was dropping 20-footers. Out on the course, missed 2-footers. Maybe that's why golf is a four-letter word?

Played On 02/23/2018Early Spring Shaggy
Have to say, the greens were in excellent shape for late February. The warm days were starting make some of the "unwanted" grasses to start growing (especially in tee box areas) while the Bermuda fairways were still rather dormant. Time to get the mowers out for the tee boxes.
Apple Mountain Resort
Played On 02/01/2018Brown 'n Breezy
Winter golf means brown Bermuda fairways. The day was a bit chilly and breezy but course conditions pretty good overall. Not very crowded. Course winterized -- no ball washers and course rest room(s) locked. Gas powered carts a bit sluggish due to cool conditions.
Sky Valley Country Club
Played On 01/31/2018Frosty and Lonely
Winter golf... the fairways were still a bit green, but many had been recently aerated leaving little dirt plugs covering the ground. Better to play from the rough, which is what I do on a regular basis. Clear skies, but pretty chilly and breezy. Had to start on hole 2 because number 1 was still frozen even at noon. Finished on number 1 with ice in the shadows off the green. Lonely? I don't believe I have ever played a course where I was the ONLY player on the course all day. I may have been the only player so far that week. There were some course workers out on a couple holes.
Brasstown Valley Resort
Played On 01/29/2018Winter Condtions
Despite being the third week in January, heavy rain the day/night before, the course was in excellent condition. Yes, the Bermuda fairways are dormant, but still great; hardly any divots. Course is relatively open, which surprised me. And it's a golf course, not lined with houses, swimming pools and barking dogs. Greens were in great shape, too. A bit tricky with elevation changes. And the scenery? I would be tempted to sneak a fishing rod in my bag next trip... fish voices in the stream were calling my name.
Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club
Played On 01/11/2018Drizzle Ball
Had the itch to play (so we ignored the damp weather conditions). Course was in pretty good shape for this time of year; fairway grass dormant, but greens okay. Course layout can be difficult to follow if you have not played here before.
Griffin City Golf Course
Played On 12/18/2017Green Greens
Course was in surprisingly good condition for mid-December. Fairways turning dormant. Leaf issues being addressed, although one leaf did cost me a par. Greens in good condition; recently dyed, but soft and true (except for an occasional leaf).
The Club at Lake Sinclair
Played On 12/14/2017Squirrel Snack
Pretty nice course. okay conditions for mid-December. Major (unfair) advantage for tee box locations. I am not the one complaining. Got to see a red-tailed hawk nab a squirrel for an afternoon snack.
Sky Valley Country Club
Played On 11/20/2017Greenest course all year
Wonderful course... greenest grass I've seen all year. Greens had a recent sanding, looked like a pin-stripe suit, but ran true. And no fire ant mounds!

Morgan Dairy Golf Club
Played On 10/27/2017Lazy Caddy
The caddy met us in the parking lot, and after signing in, picked the cart she wanted to ride in. She seems to know the course well, but only stayed with us for 16 out of 18 holes. See image of the dog in the cart.
Overall, the course was in pretty good condition. Greens were great, and larger than I remembered, but that's okay. Tee boxes were a bit rough. Fairways good. The range balls looked like they met with a very angry mower.
Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course

Well maintained course, carts, clubhouse, great staff... Greens in great shape, but challenging.
Club at Shoal Creek
Played On 10/02/2017Day good, course good, game bad
The weather was excellent, and the course was in pretty good shape except for a few rough spots on a couple of the greens. It's too bad my game wasn't as good as the course... but, that is normal. The course was not crowded, pace of play was pretty quick; 18 holes in about 2 1/2 hours.
Griffin City Golf Course
Played On 09/15/2017Weathered the storm
Playing only a few days after the tropical storm (former Hurricane Irma), the course was in pretty good condition. Some sand traps were wet to downright flooded. Plenty of small limbs and leaves scattered on the edges and cart paths. The course lost several large trees, mostly oaks. Unfortunately, most of them were not in the ball's normal flight path...
Eagle's Brooke Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/11/2017Hit long or lay up...
Like many courses this time of year, they need to mow constantly. This course is designed so you either need to hit long (over underbrush) or lay up to avoid donating balls to the weeds. Assuming a "Tin Cup" attitude gets expensive. As a first time player, I was a bit disappointed at the hole markers. The scorecard does not have a map and many of the tee areas are missing the hole number designators. They also have no yardage signs. Signs to the next hole would be helpful in some cases, like number 7 and 8. And there is one for number 6 that points straight up.
