Neath Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2021relaxed afternoon
I was lucky to turn up on my own and be invited to play by two members. This helped as there are some dog legs and a couple of blind shots. The walk round was unhurried and we let through a couple of singles matches. As there are some good uphill stretches to start it pays to take your time and enjoy the wonderful scenery
Clyne Golf Club
Played On 09/12/2017this course is picturesque
The Club has all the usual facilities expected for a club of its reputation. The chipping and practice net area is somewhat cramped and unattractive. The club shop seemed well stocked and the professional was welcoming. There was no opportunity to join with another player so I went round on my own in just over 3 hours with a push trolley. I found the course challenging but not specially difficult. As there are a few animals(ponies and sheep) on the course the greens have a protective fence system. The course is quite hilly and in places the fairways(first 9 mainly) need attention. There was evidence that the ground doesn't take wet weather too well but on the day the greens played well. The bunkers were generally playable but on the wet side.
I had an enjoyable lunch in the excellent clubhouse where the bar steward was pleasant.
Glyn Abbey Golf Club - The Abbey Course
Played On 09/21/2016a camarthenshire course
I enjoyed 18 holes at Glyn Abbey on a warm September day. I met a member who wanted to play with me and we had an enjoyable 18 holes in good conditions. The fairways were a trifle damp with the course suffering from recent heavy rain. The greens were fair and average speed. The walk between 9/10 and 17/18 was a little tiring and frustrating but otherwise the course was a good test for most golfers.
