Haven’t played Muckhart since before Covid. I was pleased to see that it is still a well manicured and scenic setting to play golf. Pro was very welcoming and most helpful. Only slight negative was the greens although OK to putt on, they we’re not at their best. Thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf and the welcome we received. I can highly recommend this course…

Played Liberton GC 14/5/23 and it was in good condition for the time of year. Very friendly and helpful Pro who was very welcoming as always. The game was played in good spirit on a well laid out course which I can highly recommend. Catering is also available until 8.00pm and we enjoyed a hearty meal at the end of our game. The bar and catering staff were very friendly and professional and I can also highly recommend their catering and bar services. Looking forward to returning again soon... Robert Cooper MBE

Myself and and friend had a great game at Bathgate GC late on Sunday afternoon. The course is in really good condition and the greens are excellent as usual. Playing late afternoon we had no one behind us and we enjoyed a relaxing game. Bar staff were really friendly as were the young Pro on duty. After playing Crow Wood for the first time some three weeks ago, we were excited and really looking forward to returning there once again. Last time we played we were all in complete agreement that we had found a little hidden gem of a course in the West of Scotland. Today proved truly disappointing, as most of the greens were in what can only be described as something of a mess. I don’t know what has happened to them over the past three weeks? It would appear that the greens have been shaved and mowed down much too far, which has resulted in almost dead patches everywhere, on what just three weeks ago were immaculate greens. We were left speculating that perhaps the Head Green Keeper may have gone off on holiday after the recent club open competition, thereby leaving inexperienced staff who have caused such damage to the greens. Today we played in temperatures approaching 25 degrees, and were faced with many of the greens being over seeded in many areas This is an obvious somewhat futile attempt to try and regrow the shaved areas in the height of a current heatwave. I don’t think however that you need to be a qualified groundsman to realise that with such heat and very little moisture this may prove somewhat challenging. It was indeed disappointing that we were not pre warned about the issues with the greens. I fully appreciate that the greens will in time fully recover, but we were left with a totally different impression of what is a truly lovely course…

Visited Liberton GC today with two friends one of whom played the course for the first time. We were all in agreement that the course cannot be faulted in any way. The course is presented well, and the greens were in excellent condition. We all could not get over that the greens were all without a single blemish and the green keeping staff richly deserve praise for all their efforts. These were without doubt the best greens that we have played on this year. The course is in stunning condition and members must be proud of their course, and the Pro was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Can’t wait to return to play this hidden little gem sometime soon… Robert Cooper MBE

Excellent day out with friends old and new at Balbirnie Park. Course was in excellent condition and weather was superb. Will most certainly be back once again later in the season.

Went to Balbirnie and enjoyed a fantastic course in great condition on a really stunningly beautiful day. It was the first time that my friend has played there and he was really impressed by the course and it’s setting in the lovely grounds next to Balbirnie House. We will most certainly visit this warm and friendly course once again.

Enjoyed a fabulous day out at Bilbirnie GC. The course was in great condition and the weather was excellent. The course was beautifully manicured and we were welcomed by very friendly staff in the Professional Shop. Having never played Balbirnie GC before, I am pleased to say that I thourghly enjoyed the experience. The course is in excellent condition and the greens are fabulous. I have now found a true little gem of a course and I will certainly be returning soon to repeat the experience. Big well done to the greenkeeping staff who have obviously worked tirelessly to present the course in such good condition.

Exceptionally fair weather sunny January day at Dalmahoy West Course. 18 normal greens operative and greens were good for this time of year. Course was presented really well. Only issue was that all winter tees. Whilst I don't mind playing off winter tees which are after all designed to protect the normal tees during heavy frost and perpetual rainy conditions, I do however take exception to playing off winter tees which are up to 30 yards ahead of the normal tees. Upon inspection there is ample teeing area adjacent to the normal tees without creating considerably shorter winter holes. Unnecessary in my opinion,. Perhaps you might consider creating winter tees closer to the normal tees? Apart from the above my friends and I enjoyed the course and a great days golf. Robert Cooper MBE
