Executive at Hog Neck Golf Course
Played On 05/31/2019Birthday Round
I will get right to the point. The worst pace of play I have ever witnessed. 20 minutes between holes and two groups of more waiting to tee off on each hole. It was comedic and pathetic actually. At one par 3 there were three 60 plus year old not golfing but hanging out on the hole drinking beers. At hole 14, a ball rolled near my cart as I’m standing in the middle of the fairway waiting for the green to clear. You get what you pay for! You want garbage, okay here. You want quality, go to Hyatt Chesapeake Bay. I don’t mind bad golfers, but bad etiquette is truly missing here. At one hole, I watched three guys drop two to three balls in the middle of the fairway and a fourth place their tee in the fairway all staring at each other. I’m not exaggerating, and I do not give bad reviews on a whim.

My father and I had a 9:06 tee time. After some range time, we crept up to the 1st hole at 8:55. Golf Now had the time scheduled for 1-2 players, so I booked for 2 players. We’re about to tee off at 9:06, when the “ranger” comes speeding up saying he was going to pair us up with two other gentlemen. Right away, I was like seriously?!!! There is no one around us. At the second hole, I got a bad feeling when are playing partners hit two-three balls off the tee. They completed slowed everything! No clue what they were doing. After a tortuous front 9 that took three hours, we decided just to play through when the ranger came speeding over that we needed to pick up the pace. I kindly put the ranger in his place and told him he needed to speak to the other gentlemen who were hitting two-three balls pee hole and looking for the balls in the woods as if they were made of gold. Another issue was the awful greens that had sand on each hole. Poor course management indeed. Real simple...Do your job!! Avoid this course and head to Enerald Lake a few miles away. Impeccable greens!

I booked a great deal on Golf Now for 2:10 pm. When I arrived there was a tournament finishing up, so there was a bit of a wait. I was playing by myself and a courteous foursome ahead of me let me play through. I enjoyed this course very much. not terribly long at all. The greens were immaculate. The only two negatives i could see and they're minor were the lack of actual sand. It was more of a gravel type sand and the cart path needs attention. All in all, a great course for the money. I will play again. The restaurant on site is a great place for food and beer after your round.
