Royal/Sabal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/29/2024Disappointing conditions
I've played Grand Palms several times in the past and was looking forward to this round. Unfortunately, the condition of the course, especially the greens, was poor and the fairways were not a lot better. We played both the Royal and the Sabal courses and the Royal was far worse than the Sabal. I feel they should close the Royal course until the greenskeepers can bring the course to an acceptable level
The Bridges at Springtree Golf Club
Played On 02/10/2023Perfect way to get back to golf
Haven't played since October and this course is a great way to get back to the game. Conditions are good, pace of play ok (had to wait on most tees) but still finished in a little over 3 hours, staff is friendly and helpful, and you can't beat the price. Will definitely return.
The Bridges at Springtree Golf Club
Played On 02/07/2022Hidden Gem
I'm reluctant to write a review of this course because I'm afraid so many people will opt for this place, it will be impossible to get a tee time. Course conditions are perfect. The greens are big and well maintained. The layout is surprisingly interesting for an executive course, especially the short par 5 on back nine. I enthusiastically recommend this course.
Gambler Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2021Nice course, a bit disappointed
Course layout is interesting and often challenging. Most greens iand fairways in good shape. A few greens and tee boxes need some work. I expected a slower than normal round because of the holiday weekend but the rangers did not do enough to encourage slow players to pick up the pace. All personnel were friendly and professional. I intend to play here again but not on a weekend.
Lakewood Country Club
Played On 06/24/2021Beautiful golf day
Weather conditions just about perfect so it was not surprising that the course was crowded and a bit slow. The course was in very good shape, especially the greens. Some of the tee boxes were in need of some attention. There are some very interesting holes at Lakewood. the 5th, a short par 4 with trees in the center of the fairway, the 3rd, with a three-tiered green, the 16th, is a u-shaped par 5, and others..
Thank you for the great review! We're glad you enjoyed the course layout.
West at Orangebrook Country Club
Played On 02/17/2021A good value
Pace of play was excellent. Got out early and finished in less than 3 hours!. The fairways are in good condition but the greens are a bit beat up. The traps were mostly compacted but this could be because of the rain the day before. The layout is really nice and some very interesting holes, particularly on the back nine, with water coming into play on several of the finishing holes. One very pleasant surprise was that they treat you to a hot dog, chips, and soda during the week. I enjoyed playing here (my first at Orangebrook) and will certainly return.
Thank you for taking the time to review us, rshimony. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. West at Orangebrook Country Club thanks you!
Cedar Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/26/2020A good value
The course layout is pretty straight (only a few dog legs), many short par 3's and 4's, several longer holes at the beginning of the back nine, and some uphill greens on the back nine. The greens and the traps are in very good condition. I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the fairways and tee boxes but considering there has been very little rain in the past few weeks, not unexpected. Many holes are bordered with thick brush and trees. If you are not a straight hitter, make sure you have a few extra balls.
Gambler Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2020A good value
Course conditions were good, and greens were a bit slow but consistent throughout. There aren't a lot of hazards (very few fairway or greenside bunkers, and few water hazards), so the course is a fairly stress free. There are several short par 4's that are interesting and fun.

William F. Larkin Golf Course at Colonial Terrace
Played On 06/02/2020A real bargain
This was the first time playing this course and will NOT be the last. I loved the pace of play since Corvid-19 rules went into effect (about 1 1/2 hours for 9 holes), course condition was good, greens were in very good shape, and the staff helpful and professional. There are not a lot of hazards on the course and the holes are mostly short, but the fairways are fairly narrow and you get a lot of iron practice..
Bonaventure Golf Club
Played On 03/03/2020A good value
Bonaventure is an interesting and challenging course. There are several holes (5th, 7th, and 18th) that present excellent golf decision making opportunities. The pace of play on this day (Tuesday, 11:00 AM tee time) was very good (less than 4 hours). I was disappointed in the general condition of the course, specifically, many greens in need of repair and most fairways in need of maintenance. Also, the starters seemed to be disorganized. None of these criticisms, however, will keep me from returning to Bonaventure.
Lakewood Country Club
Played On 06/26/2019Fun round
Course conditions were very good even though there was a good deal of rain the day before. The greens were a bit slow but consistent throughout. Some interesting holes:
4th if playing from the tees (wicked dogleg with waste bunker in play)
5th- tree in the middle of the fairway about 150 yds from green
12th take an club for second shot
14th narrow dogleg- stay away from the right
16th- crazy double dog leg right par 5. Not long, but can be tricky. Out of bounds on the right.
Thank you for your review! We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Lakewood Country Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Bonaventure Golf Club
Played On 02/08/2019Nice facility
Bonaventure is a terrific golf course: lots of variety of golf challenges, good course conditions, and plenty of fun. The two holes I found most interesting were the 5th and the 18th.; both are par 4's with many golf options because of water in front of the greens. The 5th is my favorite because it is short in distance but the long on choices.
Bunker Hill Golf Course
Played On 08/16/2018Fun round of golf
Really enjoyed my first round here. The course conditions were good, the greens were consistent, although a bit slow, fairways were well maintained, and the rough was not punishingly thick. The only part of the course that needs some work are the tee boxes, but even these are OK. There is a small creek that you must deal with on 4 or 5 holes; other than that there is only one more water hazard on the back nine. The fairways are fairly wide and there aren't a lot of traps, so the main course features you must deal with are the trees and there are plenty of them. The only criticism I have is that despite the hot and humid weather we had, there were no drinking water coolers on the course; amazing to me in this day and age of being careful with potential health issues like staying hydrated.
Lakewood Country Club
Played On 07/17/2018Weather bonus
Lakewood is generally fairly crowded in the summer but because the weatherman predicted storms for the day, the course was nearly empty. So my usual 4 1/2 hr round was reduced to a 3 1/2 unrushed and relaxing one. We were forced to stop play several times because of the downpours, but the course held up perfectly. This is not unexpected considering the course has more than 100 years experience handling all types of weather. By the way, the course conditions were terrific... greens, fairways, tee boxes, and even the rough were in tip top condition.
Gambler Ridge Golf Club
Played On 05/30/2018Fun round
Course is in very good shape with tees, fairways, and greens consistent and well maintained. Keep it on the short grass because the rough is thick and tough. There isn't a lot of water, fairway bunkers, or thick stands of trees and the layout is fairly easy but you will have an opportunity to use most of the clubs in your bag, so it makes for a fun round of golf. Two features I liked about the course were that there is a double green on the back nine (15 and 17) and fact that management cares about its greens and gives out divot tools.
Lakewood Country Club
Played On 05/24/2018Classic layout, perfect conditions, great value
Lakewood CC has been around for more than 100 years and has never been better. The greens are in great shape, the fairways neat and well maintained, and the tall grass has been mown down to size. I think the back nine is significantly more interesting than the front, but the entire course is a pleasure to play. My only problem yesterday was the very slow pace of play, about 5 1/2 hours for 18 holes. This is NOT typical for Lakewood but because yesterday was a spectacular weather day following many rainy and cold days, it seemed like everybody with a set of irons was out there yesterday. My fault for not considering this when I made my tee time.
The Senator Course at Shula's Golf Club
Played On 02/20/2018Terrific course
My first time at this course and will make it my business to go back soon. Pace of play was excellent; we finished in a little more than 3 hours, unheard at a southern Florida course in prime time. Starter gave us a very helpful overview of the course including his recommendation for which tees to play. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Very interesting layout with lots of chances to "Think" golf. My suggestion.. bring a few extra balls, especially on the back nine... my GPS showed more blue than green.
rshimony,
Thank you for your review of Shula's Golf Club. I am very happy to hear that our staff was helpful and that you found the pace of play to be very good. The course has been in great shape this winter. We are all glad that your experience was enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you again on your next trip to South Florida.
Sincerely,
Shula's Golf Club
Flamingo Lakes Country Club
Played On 02/09/2018Nice course, nice condition
This was not the first time I've played here and was pleasantly surprised by several improvements management made on the course. The fairways were in good condition and with the exception of the 7th, the greens were also good. One of the improvements they made was new signs and hole maps on each tee. Another change is that they removed the GPS's from the carts and substituted an app GPS. We played on an unusually breezy day with the wind in your face on the two par 3's on the back nine, both of which require shots over water.... both holes are short but really challenging when playing into the wind. One more comment, this one having nothing to do with golf...the course is on an age restricted property and you must go through a security gate to get in. I had to wait 15 minutes to get through because of a huge backup at the 136th Ave entrance. There is another entrance on the next block which might save you some waiting time.
We are so glad that you have enjoyed your round at Flamingo Lakes. We are happy you noticed that we have made improvements. We appreciate feedback from our guests in order to make improvements. We apologize for the wait you had at the security gate. They are making improvements to the main gate. At this time golfers can only use the main entrance. We look forward to seeing you again!
Bonaventure Golf Club
Played On 01/31/2018Great layout
The course is a challenging one with water coming into play on many holes. The fairways were in good shape and the rough is typical of southern Florida courses. I found the 5th hole particularly difficult, even though it is not the #1 handicap hole; tight fairway, water all over, and the green well protected.
A few things for management:
1. Your on-line score card and hole markers needs to be updated with the new "Blue" tees numbers.
2. Some of the fairway bunkers need to be repaired and weeded.
3. There are missing rubber tees for the practice tee mats.
4. Some of the greens are a bit ruddy. This may be a seasonal thing, but it does affect some play.
Overall, however, a very nice course with friendly and professional staff. Play in the late morning to avoid hitting into a low sun.
Hanover Country Club
Played On 09/04/2017Nice course, great price
Hanover is really two separate courses... the front is relatively flat and straight while the back nine has some major elevation changes, despite also being relatively flat. The fairways were in great shape, and most of the greens were nice (there were several that need some renovation). In the past, when they cut the greens close and rolled them, putting downhill was a real challenge; yesterday they were consistent and manageable. The long grass is as thick and ornery as anything I've ever seen. The 18th hole is a beaut... nearly 600 yards from the blue tees and quite a golf challenge. This hole is spectacular when the trees start to change colors in the fall.
Hello, thanks so much for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed your round at Gambler Ridge Golf Club. That's what we like to hear! We hope to see you again soon!
