Words cannot describe just how much of a dump this place is. $50 to play 18 holes here is the biggest rip off in Emerald Isle. Period. Not only are the greens just pure garbage, rolling maybe a 6. Hairy, dead. Awful...but the fairways haven’t been mowed to a decent golf course length. It hasn’t rained in weeks so don’t tell me it’s weather related. BS. This course is just terrible and in no way will I ever come play this sorry excuse of a course again. Oh. And they charged a 5 year old to ride, but only after they wanted to charge a full player rate because he had a bag with him carrying three clubs. GET REAL. If there could be negative stars, this course would get it. Worst play in EI to waste your money. Bar none.

I titled this review to put into perspective the time period and what to expect.
We played this course as a preparation round to an upcoming tourney we plan on playing here. I must say, for the day we played (40 degrees, rain that morning, cold/overcast day) we were one of maybe 4 groups out there. Played 27 holes in 5 hours. I know the TOUR used to stop here, and the layout suggests a great score-fest with a few challenges mixed in. This wasn't our first time here, and certainly wont be the last. I'm impressed. Yes, there are dead areas of Bermuda and the greens were a little soft so they were easily marred by ball marks on such a wet day, but nevertheless, and again, for February, the course is as good as any around. Despite the softness, greens easily rolling 10+. and the fairways were cut smooth. I have no complaints. Going back this week as well!

When the only issue you have is that you wished the rough was a little less dense, the course is up to par. Great layout, excellent conditions, and a wonderful challenge.
Go.
Tanglewood Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 10/09/2015Highly disappointed.
Went on a Friday afternoon hot deal for $20. That was the best part. HOWEVER, my playing partner and I only played 14 holes, the last of which took a grand total of 28, yes, 28 minutes. One hole. 22 of those minutes were spent watching videos on our phones sitting in the fairway while a foursome playing captains choice, and a twosome following them also playing that format, goofed off and had no concern for anyone but themselves. A 4.5 hr round only allowed a twosome to play 14 holes. From the first tee we followed a group until the turn, which took 2.5 hours. Passed them on 10 only to find out we couldn't go anywhere bc apparently they were just one of 5 foursomes in the same group. Bottom line, NEVER ONCE SEEN A RANGER. Pathetic experience for such a good course. Reported our frustrations to no avail. As if they couldn't care less. Won't be back. Suggest you stay away if you don't have a full day. The organization of the facility is lackluster to say the least.

Played here today. Bottom line, extremely disappointed with the overall course conditions. For such a place as Tanglewood, you'd figure they'd care a bit more about their name. It's sad really. Sure, some fairways looked good, some greens okay, but NOTHING had been mowed in what looked to be 3+ days. At least 50% of 95% of the greens were overtaken by crabgrass. I got it for $10 but wouldn't pay $20 to play it. Go elsewhere until they get this fixed. It's not worth it.
