Greens are great!

This course has an unusual layout, which requires precise drives and approach shots. Its nickname, per my son, is the Golfball Graveyard. However, it is fun to play, and the course is kept in very good condition. One of the players in my group, it was the first time he played the course, said that the greens were the best for any public course in the area.

Walk don't ride on this course

I played this course on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. The Steelers were playing that afternoon so that probably explains the 3 1/2 round. The course itself was in very good shape, the fairways are cut tight and the tee boxes are level and well groomed. The bunkers were full of soft sand and well groomed. The greens, however were slow, they had not been cut, and this course is known for its quick greens, so that was a disappointment. I agree with the other reviewers, the cart paths are treacherous with gaping holes, you had to go slow or else the jostling could injure your back! Until they replace the cart paths the course will never attact serious group outings, and I suspect that the cart paths poor condition substantially contribute to the slow play mentioned in other reviews.

True rolling greens and well cut holes enhance the play

I played this course on Sunday afternoon on Father's Day, with my son. The fairways were well cut and defined, although a number of the bunkers were in disrepair. Course was a bit soggy after the heavy rain on Friday but they did a good job with the greens, they held shots but were not slow and ran true. I especially liked the tee box variations, a set of silver tees were a welcome relief for someone who does not hit the ball a long way. On that day they put in 15 inch holes on each green, in addition to the regular size holes, there was even a 15 inch hole on the practice green! I applaud the management for their willingness to be to innovative. The regular holes were well cut and they used full size, deep, white inserts which were a welcome touch. Staff was very friendly and polite. But $3.75 for a small hot dog seems a bit much!

2 courses in one

The course is really 2 different courses, a links style course on the front nine, and a narrow, tree-lined target course on the back. The greens ran true, and the fairways were well defined and well groomed. The course plays longer than the yardage listed. I would have given it 5 stars but for the fact that even though I played it on a Wednesday , and my tee time was at 11:30, it took over 5 hours to play, and the back nine was especially slow, every shot was almost a 5 minute wait.

Great layout but slow play

The course was in very good shape, although the greens were much slower than the putting green, so it took a few holes to adjust. The layout consists of constantly changing hole types, so that there is varying character to each nine. Played on a Saturday and the round took almost 5 1/2 hours, which was the biggest disappointment. Very good value thru Golf Now.
