What happened to this course???

I have played here more times then i can count and normally the experience is great, I love this course. This last time out was terrible, absolutely terrible.
Tee'd of almost 30 mins after our tee time, No ranger to be found. Office staff was rude (not to me, but other patrons). Pace of play was ungodly slow, paid for 18 holes only played 9 because that took 3 hours. Literally would wait 5-10 min to tee off on each hole.
Again, no ranger. Another frustrated group in front of us called in to the office to complain and was told "there was nothing we could do" - Unacceptable!
It's a hot and humid July day in FL and there is NO water to drink on the course, nothing but empty jugs and dirty bathrooms.
Course was super wet but in good shape, though no card had any sand so how do you fill your divots?? Lots of unfilled divots on a soaking wet course can't be good..
Greens were super slow and look like they need a cut but, again it has been wet so won't complain cause they rolled pretty true. Tee boxes and Fairways looked good, better then many course around here lately.
I am just so taken back about the management that i wont come back here for a while...

A very fun course

Given the economic climate and inflations, i am sure the cost of course maintenance has gone up drastically, the course was in good shape all things considered.
Tee boxes were good, and fairways better than expected. The greens, well.. oof, they were harsh.

So first off, it looks like they were punched within the last 2 weeks, so i wont criticize that but almost every green was under repair, HUGE dead spots covered in green sand like material covering them. Luckily this mostly resided around the fringes and had minimal effect on gameplay, just unsightly. Whom ever placed the cups did a terrible job between pin placement and the quality of the hole. Once can argue about the placement but the lip of 16:18 holes were a volcano. Any putt not dead center of the cup would veer off to one side or the other, not cool for such a nice course.

The green quality, aside of the punch, was pretty good and looked healthy, balls rolled a bit slow but you can manage, albeit the punch marks added a bit of unpredictability to a putt. The fringes around the greens, the first cut area, were a bit overgrown and looked like they were freshly trimmed with residue that would impede the ball on some holes but not all.

With the harsh greens aside, it nothing that cant be fixed or be returned to its glory, I'd still highly recommend this course, the layout makes you think about your shots and is very enjoyable.

What happened to this course?? Disappointing..

Highly disappointed, First off the "Starter" was rude arrogant and and incompetent. He wasn't at his post and then get mad when we pull up to the tee box at our assigned time. Then he proceeds to put a 4some in front of my twosome cause they were late and they were slow as heck but, they were kind enough to let us play through because they knew they'ed be slow.
Pace of play was horrific, 4 hours to get to the 13th hole and sitting on a tee box for 8-12 mins easy every hole, not to mention the periodic waiting in the fairways and NO Rangers to be seen..
I have played this course dozens of times, I love it but i don't know what happened today but totally inexcusable.
We ended up leaving after the 13th hole, didn't feel like spending another 2+ hours just to finish the round..
One thing is for sure, i won't be coming back here any time soon. Not till they get their stuff straight..

Course conditions were very good as usual, Green's were recently punched so they were a little bumpy (not bad though) and pretty slow as to be expected. They looked good and balls stopped well so another week or two and they will be perfect!.

Love this course but they need to can that starter, wish i had gotten his name.. So disappointing...

Its getting better

My chief complaint when i played a few weeks ago were the absolutely terrible greens.
This time the greens (performance) was MUCH MUCH better... They rolled pretty true and had decent speed, very playable.. They don't look too pretty but they played well.
Over all they still need work, have some dead spots, some weeds and some bare spots but I commend them for showing effort to take care of the greens.
Fairways and the rough were well taken care of but a little dry and brown, again it's acceptable since we have not had much rain and they look like they are redirecting funds from the fairways to the greens.. Great choice IMHO.
Tee boxes are still uneven and a bit of a pain to find a good level spot but again, keep focus on the greens guys. I have seen some markings around the greens so i have to assume they are for some future greens work and i am glad to see it..
I should also note that the sand traps are actually sand again and not hard dirt bunkers.. Another improvement i noticed...
While the course is not in great shape it is very much playable and enjoyable, so as long as you're not looking for a perfect course i feel you will enjoy a day on this course,
Thanks You Summerfield for addressing these issues, I will continue to support and recommend you as long as i see that you guys are working towards improvements.

One of my favorite courses

Tee boxes were not bad, and the fairways were firm but still very good. Greens have some weeds that effected the ball and we very hard and slow, really slow. Made putts hard to gague and unpredictable. Over all, course is in great shape with a challenging layout, Avery enjoyable course for the avg and better players, new players may find it a bit too tough.

The greens get worse every time i go back

Overall course is good and the greens look good but they are really terrible to play on. They are SLOW so slow; It was like putting on your living room carpet. Bumpy, there are no aeration marks but the balls bounced like you were putting down cobblestone... OK, slight exaggeration but you get the picture... Nothing rolls true, Plugs from previous holes right next to the flag, no matter how you putt the ball just bounces across the green.. I am no scratch golfer but this is less than i can accept.. Only the 17th hole rolled true and was smooth, slow still but smooth... 18th was acceptable as well..

I don't know what happened to those greens but it isn't worth $45 that's for sure...They have a 'cart girl' somewhere, don't know, only saw her once.
This used to be one of my favorite courses to play. I literally moved closer to it just to get my game time and i am so disappointed.. Even with the Golf now Hot Deal of $30 i think i will pass next time..

Great course

I don't normally give 5 stars especially sing the course is not in perfect shape BUT, considering the conditions of most courses in the area I think they deserve all 5 stars.. This was the first time all summo that i got to play on greens that were greens and rolled true. Fairways are well maintained and bunkers actually had sand, not dirt or hard packed sand like many other courses.
Tee boxes were in good shape and even the rough is maintained.. Well worth $30-40

Wonderful course off the beaten path

This is a very nice course, well maintained. Provides a moderate challenge with well placed bunkers, water hazards are few and far between. The greens were quite firm, very difficult to get a wedge to stick. Greens were fast and true with very subtle breaks that you will not notice if you are not paying attention. We played on a windy day which added to the challenge, even had wind blow the ball off the tee!

Certainly a great course for around in the $20-25 range. Friendly staff, nice pro shop, cart girl and a beautiful course!!

Great Short Course, work those irons

Greens have been much improved since my last visit. Med. speed, no more brown patches.. Course will make you think about your shots, and shot placement is a must to do well. 18 holes in about 2 hours, generally not too busy. it really make you work your irons, no hole longer then just over 200yds from middle tee's

Iron Course

This is my second time out on this course, the first time the greens were horrible, especially the back 9 but, it was worth a second trip. This time I was pleased to see they really took some time to tend to the greens.. I rated this experience better than the last b/c my main complaint was terrible greens.

This is definitely a workout for your irons, playing anything but the back tee's lacks any real challenge but nonetheless makes you choose your irons wisely. Back tee's offer a good challenge on most holes as your shots are awkward or somewhat obscured a bit and prove to be too long for long irons, at least if you're not spot on with long iron accuracy and control.

Longest hole's are just over 200 yards but even the shorter one's require layup on hard turn doglegs. Par 3's are short, really short, like SW off the tee's.. 1 par 3 was 76 yrs from mid tee's.

Downside, the ruff was really ruff, hit a ball there and it sinks out of sight. had a hard time finding balls literally just off the fairway. Getting out of it was easy but jus locating your ball was a challenge in its self. Greens were green this time but very slow and pitch shots didn't stick well or check up easy but compared to what they were a few months ago its a vastly huge improvement.

I'd recommend this course to women, youngsters and to men who want to work their irons. Not a 5 or 4 star course but its definitely worth the 2 hours to play 18 and practice the most important part if your game, your short game

Beautiful Course... Definitly must play..

Unfortunately, they just punched the greens recently so it was like putting on cobblestone but you can tell these greens are amazing. Very well kept course, every hole is unique and has its own challenge. Great staff and cart girl.. I really cannot say enough about this course. Some holes are tight, some are wide, strong doglegs, water hazards, sand everything placed well to punish a mishit and reward a good to decent shot. This course will make your "must play again" list.. it made mine

Excellent course, Must play it

played this course several times, greens have minor flaws nothing to really complain about. Very well kept course, great staff.. Every hole is unique and offers a challenge. Great for a seasoned player or a weekend warrior and you will not be disappointed.
Well kept fairways, all the greens seemed to slope towards the fairway which gives you a great opportunity to really spin that ball and make it pull back on the greens.

One of my favorite courses in this area and I highly recommend it
