I drive a hour and half from Chesapeake, VA to Scotch hall Preserve and I must say was the best golf course I've ever played on.
First of all when you arrive, you check in and a cart attendant brings a cart to your car and loads up your bags. Top notch southern hospitality. Finding your way around the course is a little wierd but once you figure it out its fine. They moved the pro shop away from the 1,9,10,18 splits. It's a hike to number 1 but your driving in a very nice cart with built in gps so no worries.
From 1 to 18 tee box to green it is pure beauty. I've never played a course with well manicured tee boxes. The fairways are plush green carpet. The rough is exactly that, it's rough. You will be awarded for finding fairways. You will be greatly penalized for finding rough. Most of the cart paths ride right along bushes and high grass. There's no bouncing off cart paths and finding grass to hit a second shot. HIT STRAIGHT SHOTS!!!! There's nothing bad to say about this course.
There's a cooler on your cart filled with water. Every par 3 has a huge cooler filled with ice and water for you to drink. The carts have a very nice touch screen gps system that tracks each shot, where you are and even slows you down to 10 mph on bridges. Make sure you follow cart path signs. If not gps will tell you and slow you down to 7mph. Touch screen even has a scorecard function that automatically comes up after you leave each green.
If you looking for a great deal and a beautiful course with magnificent views then Scotch Hall Preserve should be your next outing. Thank you Scotch Hall for a great golf day I fully plan on returning.
Battlefield Golf Club at Centerville
Played On 05/17/2015Greens are terrible
Do not waste your money. This course use to have the fastest greens around. Now the greens are brown and extremely bumpy.
Tee areas have not been cut. Still no club house. No snack bar, and no real restrooms. Portable toilets are getting old. No real cart paths. They have dirt paths.
Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort

Kiln Creek is a great golf course. I had breakfast before my round and the food was amazing. Golf course is in great shape minus bunkers. Bunkers are in bad shape. Stay out of them and your okay. I love that the fairways and greens are elevated. Lots of rolling hills and rolling cart paths.
