The Club at Venetian Bay
Played On 10/10/2023Nice Course-Needs a little work
My understanding is this course changed management in the winter of 2023. I was told when we checked in that the course had been really run down when new management took over but they felt the course was getting better every day. They are working on several greens, particularly on the front nine around the edges. A lot of sand on the edges to get grass to grow. On this day, many sand traps were full of water, mainly on the back nine, Fairways and Tees were pretty good. If a green was being worked on, the other 90% of the green was good, not great. The ball did roll well. They putted better than they looked. We played this course a few times under the old management a few years ago and the conditions were overall pretty good. We did not play it when it had run down. I think there is really good potential here with some work. We like the room off the tee for driving and multiple tee locations offers you an easier or tougher test based on your level of play. They are offering some good rates to possibly win back some lost business. It's definitely worth playing.

Played On 10/13/2020Great Value—Love the Layout
Played here 8 or 9 times. Biggest complaint is how the course holds water. And greens are average at best. But a fun layout and maybe the best value in the area for afternoon golf. Nice staff and newly reopened bar/restaurant, although I didn’t try it. It’s worth the time to go.
Graysburg Hills Golf Course - Fodderstack
Played On 07/03/2018A Really Good Course
We played here for the first time in a few years but have logged at least 100 rounds here since they opened (1979 I believe). The fairways were in the process of being converted to Bermuda the last time we were here and the conversion was well worth it. Very nice fairways and tees. The rough was tough but overall not unfair. The greens were good, and could have been better if a few people in front of us did a better job of fixing ball marks. That was really our only complaint. We saw familiar family faces of owners from 40 years ago and were treated like they appreciated us being there. It was busy here this morning but the pace of play moved pretty good. We played in under 4 hours playing the original 18 holes of the Knobs and Fodderstack 9's. We never really cared for the Chimney Tops 9 hole layout...Just a personal preference. Anyway, this is a really good golf course andwell worth the drive into the country to play it. We hope to be back soon.

Played here for the second time (previous play Oct 2017). We found the greens very challenging, fast, as they were in Oct. 2017. But that's just fine. Just a fun course to play. Lot's of variety in layout and plenty of course to challenge you. At the same time, plenty of room to hit the fairway, especially from the shorter tees (we played at around 6000 yds.) We felt we got a really good value, for a really good course, in good shape for all the rain they have had in the area. Will gladly go back here when we return.

We originally scheduled one round here but enjoyed it so much we were able to return the following day with a 2:20 T-time for an amazing $22, and managed to get in all 18 holes when the course emptied after the front nine. We found a very nice layout with a variety of tees (we play at around 6000 yds). The course is owned by the county, and according to the locals we played with, they are trying to figure out what to do with it. Drainage is a challenge with recent rains. But that's really the only issue we encountered. Greens were in good shape, a lttle thin in a few places, but they rolled well at average speeds. There was plenty of room to find fairways off the tee and also plenty of course to challenge you if you want to back up a ways. The course is fun aand a great value. It was full both days we were here from early to late. For the price and layout, we can see why. We will definitley be back and would love to play it in dry conditions. If you need to get in some practice, the driving range is good size with a couple of chipping greens as well. The putting green is right behind#1.

Played On 06/13/2017Good Conditions and Good Value
I am always suprised how good the course conditions are compared to other courses. Over the years, it seems like as other course conditions begin to decline in warmer weather, this course seems to always prevail. Greens were good, fairways mowed wilh with plenty of grass on them, and the tees in good shape as well. Snack bar was closed at 5:00 as we finished our round, so that was a little disappointing. Other than that, no complaints. This course has gotten better over the years and the practice range and green are good as well.
