Worst Course Ever

Staying in Palm Springs we usually try to take in a non-desert course combining a visit to the Cabazon Outlet mall.

The greens were worse than temporary greens I have played on. It was like the tractors/mowers were too heavy for the greens and left tire ruts. The ball would change direction as it hit the ruts and was always bouncing rather than rolling.

If I were to play there again I would just take 2 putts and pick up the ball rather than take the frustration of playing the greens

The fairways were mainly patchy grass with lots of hard bare patches. The resulting bounces and rolls were very unpredictable.

On the front nine our foursome was behind a 5-some who were taking their putting seriously. We spent a lot of time waiting on the fairways and had play backing up behind us.

We have played Yuciapa for the last 4 years and wish we would have gone back there this year.

Hard to believe people $85 -$99 /round to play here

We got in on a golf now fire sale the morning of play...basically half price. We were worried that the course might be too posh for us.

The course is located up a narrow winding road and the Club house is a trailer.
The parking lot is roughly graveled. The whole place has the feel of a far over-reaching "executive" development that ran out of money. The road in is strewn with abandoned real estate development

We were the only people on the course at 1 pm. and had at least a 45 minute gap on anyone ahead of us. I think that there were 2 groups of 2 behind us.

The course is very difficult with almost all tees having to carry lost ball sage. I felt like a PGA player in that I saw very few of my drives land. May as well as hit them and turn away.
I could follow them a general direction and then they would consistently disappear behind a hill and roll to where ever that particular hill would take it.

There are many holes where you have no clear idea where the green is until you are 150 yds away. There were many shots from bottom of gullys. You make the shot with the concept that the green was in that general direction ( GPS would say just was 200 yds away) so the same shot could end up on the green or lost.

The slope from the women's tees is at 135 ... par 72 and only 5269 yds. Can't say that we weren't warned. My wife will not go back to this course.

They have spectacular views of mountains, trees and lakes. All the staff was very pleasant. They had the time as there were so few people at the facility. Probably more staff than golfers.

The course is charging too much for what they can deliver. They are keeping a premium rate but I can't imagine this business model working.

A very Clean Beauty of a Course

this is a very well kept executive course. It is very scenic and has a very positive feel.

There is just so much water .... you have to be psychologically strong and make the regular easy hit while looking at water on almost all the holes. The fairways are a bit crowded by houses.

You will likely drown a few balls.

We have played here a few times over the last couple of years and almost always had a good day. All the people we have played with have been great. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Course was bad enough to review

I don't do reviews as most of my reviews would be the same .... all courses are good and that would be a consistently boring review that would not add value.

This was a bad golf experience.

2:30 tee off time. Got there at 2:00 and was told that I booked for 4 rather than 2 and was probably my fault but they would not charge me for 4.

Asked if I could take get a cart and take it to parking lot to pick up wife and clubs.... "I don't talk about carts see the starter".... No mention of running half hour late....

Starter did not have carts. Like I said there was a 30 min delay. Sunset at 5:30 so hoped to get in 12-14 holes.

I packed in the clubs from the car... No assistance offered and chatted with the other 8-10 waiting for carts. The cart staff offered no one any help getting their clubs onto the cart but were all over the cursory club cleaning (tip time).

The Course was as bad as described in other reviews. Playing the Legends you hit over a waste land and come to the club house at 9 over a similar disaster area. My Wife wasn't going to be able to hit the 200 yds to clear the pit so she played from the other edge.

The 9th Green was at the edge of the pit. You either hit the green or played long as coming 5 yds short would drop you into toxic waste.... huge sewer smell around the 9th green.

We only got in 9 holes 3:00- 5:15 and since 10 was back over the Black lagoon.

There was no apparent effort to fix the problems. It is in the middle of the desert. A few loads of sand would go a long way to fixing the problem. No apologies or acknowledgement from the staff that there was anything wrong.... Hard to imagine golf staff not enjoying their job and being friendly

The grass just off the fairway was cattle grazing long. The greens were ball pitted and slow.

another problem: Tahquitz as it has a resident rate. It also has a cheap twi-light membership that pack the course after 1. Sort of a public course catering to regular "members" that would just as soon I keep my visitor money.

I won't ever play this course again.
