Woods Fort Golf Course
Played On 04/22/2020Wood Fort is a Gem in Troy, MO !!!!!
Played Wood Fort on 04/23. What a treat. To be in such great shape this early in the season is amazing! Greens, Fairways, rough and even the bunkers were all in top notch condition.
I hadn't played Woods Fort in many, many years. It's a bit of a drive. I've got my whole group coming out this Sunday to experience it. Looking forward to it. Keep up the great work.

Persimmon Woods Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2018Played Persimmon Woods GC as a perspective member
Played this course for the first time yesterday. What a treat!!
They should be very proud of this golf club, it is very nice. All the people we met were very friendly and the atmosphere was very casual.
The gal at the halfway snack stop (near hole #12) was very friendly and came out to welcome us. And that was before she realized we were perspective members trying out the course.
Two of us played there from our regular golf group, and really enjoyed our round. The wind added an additional challenge, but Gary and I scored fairly well. Scoring a par on #18 was a highlight for me. We decided to play the White tees since it was our first time to play the course. Good choice! The wind and some of the courses soft conditions would have made 6300+ yards seem much longer. However, I'd love to try the Black tees in dryer, hotter and fast conditions.
Rob (The Golf Course Superintendent) should be very proud of the job he's done to maintain (and improve) the course. St Louis summers are very cruel to golf courses. I did see some heat stress on a couple greens, but not much other damage on the course relating to a brutally hot summer. What a treat to play out of such well groomed bunkers with real white silicon sand! Not used to not having to rake the sand before I play out of it.
The greens were a treat. Don't get to play on greens that fast very often here in St Louis. A small modification to my putting strategy had to be made.
I would recommend this course to anyone who is thinking about joining a private golf course. This is a private Golf club, not a Country Club. This makes it unique in this class of membership based clubs, but the price is appropriate for what it is. This is a club you want to join, if golf is your focus. Most of my golf buddies fall into this category.
I can highly recommend Persimmon Woods!!

Oak Valley Golf Course & Resort
Played On 09/30/2018First time playing Oak Valley GC
My Sunday group decided to give Oak Valley a try since we love to play new tracks and recent reviews were pretty good
Overall we really enjoyed the course layout. Gary Kern is one of my favorite Midwest golf course designers. We were not disappointed. It is a hilly course with many drastic elevation changes, but you can almost always see the flag from the tees. Very few totally blind shots. The greens have quit a bit of undulation, so if the greens were really fast they could be quite challenging. And a little course knowledge could go a long way.
Pace of play was excellent, but it was a NFL Sunday, so the going crowd was lower as expected.
As far as the condition go, I think it's quite evident that the new owners are spending some money to try and improve the conditions, I know this based on reviews from earlier this season (soon after the new owners took the course public) and then recent reviews. The greens had recently been aireated (about a week ago), but except for the sand on the greens they were rolling at an acceptable speed and we all really enjoyed the challenge of reading new greens (to us.
Overall I would recommend this course and we look forward to playing it again soon.
To the management; keep up the good work!

Missouri Bluffs Golf Club
Played On 07/15/2018A Gem of a course with some recent greens problems
My group played at Missouri Bluffs this last Sunday (07/15/18). This is one of the high profile upscale courses in the St Louis Metro area. Thus, this was a real treat to play. The Fazio design is awesome. We only have three of four comparable courses in the St Louis metro area. It is a pleasure to play.
That being said, we were fairly disappointed in the conditions of the greens. To be fair, the speed was slow, but since it's been so hot I know this is just a preservation thing until it cools off a bit. The greens had a ton pock marks. It looked like no one fixes their divots. And quite a few dead and brown areas. It was a very sad site for a course that costs $70 to play.
I'm sure that the extreme heat has been a contributing factor, but other St Louis courses (much less expensive) have kept their greens in great shape thru the summer heat.
This is a great course and I will return, but since the Sunday that we played the course was dead I'd say that there is an issue that needs to be taken care of. Their biggest competitor in the St Louis area (Annbriar GC) was booked solid for the same day. I think Missouri Bluffs needs to take a look at their price structure until get this issue taken care of.
Birch Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2018Eight guy group at one of my favorite local courses
Been playing out at Birch Creek for years. Definitely one of my top 5 courses in the St Louis area
It has a very fun layout and is always in great condition. Awesome elevation changes and elevated tee boxes.
On this mid April day the course was getting ready for a mid afternoon Shotgun stared tournament filling 12 holes. Our group was in front of the first group. The beginning of the tournament overlapped our group. We needed to skip a hole. We weren't happy about this development
When we completed our round we discussed what had happened with the course Manager, Randy. He was very apologetic and explained what had happened.
I look forward to playing at Birch Creek again soon. I would recommend this course to players of all levels.
